There is no single Samsung setting that stops every ad. The right fix depends on where the ad appears: notifications and screen overlays often come from an app, charging-screen ads can come from Samsung Global Goals, browser ads need browser controls, and promotions inside Samsung services have separate privacy settings.
First identify where the ad appears

Stop ads that arrive as notifications
When an ad notification appears, press and hold it to identify the sending app. Turn off notifications for that app using the option shown, or uninstall the app if you do not want it. Samsung documents this approach, though the exact controls can vary by One UI version. Samsung UK’s Galaxy ad guidance explains how to manage notifications from the notification itself.

Investigate ads over the home screen, lock screen, or other apps
Samsung’s regional support guidance attributes spontaneous pop-ups to downloaded third-party apps and says lock-screen ads are usually caused by third-party apps or browser settings. Review apps installed or updated shortly before the ads began. Remove a likely suspect one at a time, then watch whether the ads stop before removing another app. This makes it easier to identify the cause and avoids assuming that an ad by itself means the phone is infected.

Turn off charging-screen ads from Samsung Global Goals
If the ad appears on the lock screen only while the phone is charging, check Samsung Global Goals. Open the app’s settings and switch off the charging-ad option. Depending on the regional instructions, it may be labelled “Charge screen ads” or “Global Goals whilst charging.” This setting controls the Global Goals charging feature, not other ads on the phone. Samsung documents the feature in its Saudi support guide and Australian pop-up-ad guidance.
Block pop-ups and redirects in your browser
Browser controls can help when ads open in a browser or appear as browser pages. They do not establish phone-wide ad blocking, and labels or availability can differ by browser version and region.

Chrome
- Open Chrome and select Settings.
- Open Site settings, then Pop-ups and redirects, and disable pop-ups and redirects.
- Return to Site settings and review the Ads control.
These are the Chrome controls listed in Samsung Saudi Arabia’s guide. Chrome’s menu wording may differ across versions.
Samsung Internet
- Open Samsung Internet and tap Menu, then Settings.
- Open Sites and downloads and enable Block pop-ups.
- If you want additional browser filtering, check whether an ad blocker is available for your version of Samsung Internet.
The blocker is optional, and its availability can vary. These settings address browser content rather than unrelated app or system ads. See Samsung’s regional instructions.

Reduce personalized promotions in Samsung services
Samsung Account’s Customization Service setting controls the use of information for customized advertising; it is not a universal ad switch. Samsung’s US privacy notice says disabling “Advertisement Using Customization Service” may not stop all ads, including customized ads, provided by Samsung. Other Samsung services may have their own controls. Samsung’s Customization Service Privacy Notice describes the opt-out.
The menu path depends on the device and software. On some devices, Samsung lists Settings > Cloud and accounts > Accounts > Samsung account > Privacy > Customization Service. You can also check privacy settings in your Samsung Account profile. Treat that device path as an example rather than a universal route: search Settings for “Customization Service” or consult Samsung support for your model and region. Samsung notes that features and settings can differ by model; see its privacy settings guidance.

Why resetting the Advertising ID may not remove ads
Resetting the Advertising ID is not the same as turning off all advertising. Samsung Canada cautions that resetting it “will not stop the delivery of interest-based advertisements” to a Samsung mobile device. Its explanation also says that leaving the ID enabled while disabling Customization Service can still allow interest-based ads without using that service’s data. Because this information is older, prioritize current on-device controls and the privacy settings available for your account and model. Samsung Canada’s mobile ads information provides the qualification.

If the ad keeps appearing
- Note whether it appears as a notification, a browser page, an overlay, a charging screen, or a promotion inside a Samsung service.
- For notifications or overlays, start with the app involved; if the cause is unclear, remove recently installed or updated apps one at a time.
- For browser pages, use the controls for the browser displaying them.
- For charging-only ads, inspect Samsung Global Goals settings.
- For Samsung-service promotions, review Customization Service and any relevant service-specific settings.
Samsung’s menus and feature availability vary by model, software version, browser, and region. If a label or path does not match your phone, search Settings for the named feature or use Samsung support instructions for your specific model and country.
