Then check the audio in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room preview and, for an unfamiliar setup, run a test stream. YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content, so private or unlisted visibility does not prevent copyright matching.
Remove the playlist from the production setup
Find the encoder, scene, media player, or audio input that could send the playlist to the stream. If the music should not be part of the broadcast, remove that source from the active scene or disable or mute it in the production setup. Muting the wrong input will not help: confirm which source is actually feeding the stream.

YouTube’s help pages do not describe a special setting for preventing an “accidental playlist.” The practical safeguard is to stop the unwanted audio from entering the feed, then verify the feed before the broadcast begins.
Check the actual feed before going live
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room for the scheduled or current stream and wait for the preview to appear.
- Check both picture and sound. Listen to the preview to confirm that the intended audio is being sent; a correct-looking video preview does not establish that the audio is correct.
- Do not start the event until the preview is right. YouTube’s computer live-streaming tips instruct creators to check the preview before clicking “Start Streaming.”
- For an unfamiliar setup, run a test live stream. If you want to limit who can find it, choose unlisted visibility. Treat the test as a way to check your setup—not as protection from copyright scanning.

Review reused settings and scheduled streams
If you create a new broadcast with “Reuse settings,” inspect the copied setup instead of assuming it is clean. YouTube says that reusing a stream copies its settings and metadata, including the stream key and the auto-start and auto-stop selections. Recheck the selected audio source and make sure the copied start behavior is appropriate for this event.
For details on stream configuration and reuse, see Manage live stream settings.

Understand what privacy settings and tests do—and do not do
Private and unlisted are visibility choices, not stated copyright exemptions. YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material in another live broadcast. A test stream or a correct preview can help catch a setup mistake; neither changes YouTube’s matching or enforcement process.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If YouTube identifies third-party content during a live stream, it may display a placeholder and warn you to stop using the content. If it continues, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. YouTube also says a stream may be terminated for a copyright or Community Guidelines strike. See Copyright issues with live streams.

If music is intentional, confirm the rights first
You are responsible for having the rights needed to include music in your stream. Check that the license covers livestream use and any other uses you plan, such as an archived recording. A purchase or license does not necessarily prevent a live interruption: YouTube says a rights owner may need to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist for the content to be permitted during a live stream.
Confirm the license scope and any allowlisting steps with the rights owner before broadcasting. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions place responsibility for necessary rights, including music licensing rights, on the content provider. Its help page on using Content ID matching on live streams explains the rights-owner matching context.

If the wrong playlist starts playing
- Stop or remove the matched audio source in the production setup as soon as you identify it.
- Check YouTube Studio for the warning or restriction and follow the directions shown there.
- Verify the feed again before resuming, including the audio. Do not rely on changing visibility to resolve a copyright match.
Live matching and claims on an archived broadcast are separate. YouTube says Content ID claims on archived live streams are made after the stream ends if you choose to archive it. That timing does not mean an active live stream is exempt from matching or interruption.
