If the playlist is already correct but its sequence feels repetitive, enable shuffle if your service offers it. Shuffle can vary the order, but unless the provider explicitly promises a no-repeat or cooldown rule, it cannot guarantee that an item will not recur immediately.
First make sure the repeat is in the live stream itself—not just in one viewer’s YouTube player. Those are separate controls.

First identify where the repeat happens
Compare what viewers see with the cloud service’s current or next item display, if it provides one. If the cloud playlist advances normally but one viewer sees a video repeat, check that viewer’s YouTube repeat control. YouTube’s repeat instructions cover individual videos and playlists on computers, mobile devices, TVs, and consoles: YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists.

A viewer-side repeat setting changes playback for that viewer; it does not edit the playlist feeding your broadcast. By contrast, a repeated item visible to multiple viewers at the same point in the live output is a reason to inspect the cloud playlist and its playback behavior.

Audit the cloud playlist for duplicate entries
- Open the playlist in the service that supplies the live stream. Do not assume a YouTube watch-page control manages the source playlist.
- Search the full list for repeated titles or files. Duplicates may not be next to each other, and some services let the same video be added multiple times.
- Remove only unintended duplicates. Keep repeated entries if they are part of the intended programming.
- Review the sequence. In playout.video’s documented example, items play from top to bottom, and a playlist can contain the same video more than once. Its playlist management guidance is at Managing your playlist.
- Wait for the relevant change to take effect. In that service, playlist changes take effect at the next video transition. Check the next transition against the updated list; other providers may apply changes differently.
Choose the repeat behavior you actually want
| Choice | What it does | Best fit | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remove duplicate entries | Makes an unintended duplicate playlist record ineligible for playback. | You want each listed item represented only once per playlist pass. | It does not stop the whole playlist from starting over after its final item. |
| Keep duplicates intentionally | Leaves repeated entries eligible in the sequence. | An ambient or 24/7 schedule intentionally features certain items more often. | The repeated appearance is expected, not a playback fault. |
| Enable shuffle, if available | Varies the sequence between playlist passes in the documented playout.video example. | You want less predictable ordering rather than a fixed top-to-bottom sequence. | Shuffle is not a no-repeat guarantee: the documentation does not promise a cooldown or prevent an item from appearing again immediately. |
A looping playlist normally starts again from its first item when it reaches the end; that is how a documented cloud 24/7 setup maintains continuous playback. Looping the sequence does not promise that every item will be unique forever. See Creating a 24/7 live stream.
Why changing YouTube settings may not fix the source playlist
YouTube’s encoder setup explains how to send the server URL and stream key from an encoder: Set up your encoder for live streaming. Its encoder overview describes an encoder as a way to transmit audio and video: Encoder settings for live streaming on YouTube. Google’s Live Streaming API separately describes a broadcast as a watchable YouTube event and a stream as the resource used to transmit audio-video content and define streaming settings: YouTube Live Streaming API.

These references explain the distinction between the YouTube broadcast and the media being sent into it. They do not document a YouTube Studio control for deduplicating a third-party cloud playout playlist. If the repeated item is in the source sequence, make the change in the service managing that sequence.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you are choosing a service to play uploaded videos continuously to YouTube, StreamNeo keeps a channel live from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It plays what you upload; it does not go live from a camera.
