Read the developer’s current announcement, keep a recoverable save if your game and platform support one, and make room only when confirmed content gives you a reason to.
First, confirm which update you mean
Before changing a settlement, check the game’s official announcement or patch notes. Record the update name, version, release date, platform scope, and any stated prerequisites. Separate confirmed instructions from speculation, and check whether the update is upcoming or already available.

That distinction matters for two current village-building examples: Foundation’s Harvest Festival is announced for October 8, 2026, while Medieval Dynasty’s Full Stock Update has already been released. These are separate updates, not a shared preparation plan.
Use this practical pre-update checklist
- Read the official notes. Look for platform-specific release details, version numbers, known issues, and explicit requirements. If notes are incomplete, avoid treating community guesses as developer instructions.
- Keep a recoverable save, if supported. Make a separate save or backup using the game or platform’s supported method before installing a major update or making substantial changes. This is a general precaution, not a stated requirement for either Foundation: Harvest Festival or Medieval Dynasty’s Full Stock Update.
- Leave flexible space only when it makes sense. If confirmed features involve new buildings, production, decoration, or event areas, consider keeping a suitable area adaptable. Do not demolish established parts of your village based on an unconfirmed mechanic.
- After installation, verify what arrived. Check the installed version and current notes for your platform. Then adjust the village to the features that are actually present rather than relying on previews or assumptions.
What the two announced updates actually say
| Update | Release state and confirmed details | Preparation guidance in the announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation: Harvest Festival | Polymorph Games announced on September 14, 2026 that the DLC launches October 8, 2026. The announcement describes crops and orchards, chickens, pigs and geese, production chains and recipes, and Festival Grounds with food, drinks, and entertainment. | The announcement encourages players to prepare a celebration, but does not give a pre-update checklist or say existing players must clear space, change inventory, or make a particular save. |
| Medieval Dynasty: Full Stock Update | The update is available as version 2.6.0.1. Its announcement lists Intel XeSS 3 support, 47 decorations, 32 containers, ivy for houses, a visual update to resource and food storage based on chest fullness, and inhabitants using selected furniture in their free time. | In a June 3, 2026 release-time announcement, the developers advised players to finish preparing their village and leave some space. The June 11, 2026 release post confirms the update is available. |
How to interpret space-making advice
For Foundation: Harvest Festival
The announced farming, animal, production, and festival features may give players reasons to plan a layout, but the announcement does not establish that an existing settlement needs to be cleared before installation. Check the latest official notes near launch for any later, platform-specific instructions.

For Medieval Dynasty: Full Stock
The developers explicitly recommended leaving space before the update. That was advice for this release, not a universal rule for every patch or DLC. Since Full Stock is already live, use its current notes to decide whether to rearrange anything; do not treat the earlier advice as a requirement to remove buildings now.

Do not prepare for a released patch as though it were still pending. Confirm that the correct version is installed, review its notes for your platform, and use a recoverable save before undertaking major renovations if that option is available. For context beyond Full Stock, the Medieval Dynasty announcement also describes The Backwood as a planned free DLC in 2027, with an uninhabited map and Creative Mode; announced plans and timing can change.
