To reduce clipping and keep a Marathi YouTube playlist sounding consistent, prepare each video as an upload-ready file, measure its integrated loudness and true peak, normalize only where needed, then listen to the rendered files and playlist transitions. Upload settings and live-encoder settings are different: an uploaded playlist uses YouTube’s upload recommendations, while a continuous encoder feed uses its separate live settings. YouTube’s cited specifications do not prescribe a special audio workflow for Marathi or a universal LUFS target.
First decide whether you are uploading a playlist or sending a live encoder feed
An uploaded playlist is made from individual video files that YouTube processes before playback. A live encoder feed is a continuous signal sent to YouTube by streaming software or hardware. The audio settings differ, so do not apply live-encoder settings to upload files as if they were one universal profile.

- Uploaded playlist: prepare and review each file, upload it, allow processing, then publish or use it in the playlist.
- Live encoder: configure the encoder separately, test the actual stream, and monitor stream health while live.
YouTube’s general upload and live guidance does not identify Marathi as needing separate technical encoding settings. That is an inference from the general specifications, not a guarantee that every source recording will behave the same. YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings and its live encoder settings should be treated as distinct workflows.
Prepare the video file for YouTube upload
Use the upload audio recommendations
For ordinary uploads, YouTube recommends an MP4 container and AAC-LC or Opus audio at 48 kHz. Its recommended stereo upload audio bitrate is 384 kbps. For video, the recommendations include H.264 and matching the frame rate to the recording; consult the full YouTube page for resolution-dependent video details rather than assuming one video profile fits every file.

These are upload recommendations, not a promise that an already-clipped recording will become clean. Check the export settings in your editing software and make sure the rendered file has the intended audio track and channel layout before uploading.
Keep live settings separate
If you are instead encoding a live feed, YouTube’s advanced live settings list AAC or MP3 audio, 44.1 kHz for stereo, and 128 kbps for stereo audio. The live recommendations also call for CBR encoding and a two-second keyframe interval. Do not substitute these live-feed values for the upload-file recommendations above.

Measure loudness and true peak before normalizing
Use two measurements for two different problems
A peak or true-peak limit helps control overload risk. Integrated loudness helps you compare the overall programme level of one playlist item with another. A clip can avoid clipping and still sound much louder or quieter than the item before it, so a peak meter alone is not enough.
FFmpeg’s loudnorm filter is documented as EBU R 128 loudness normalization. It supports dynamic and linear modes and controls for integrated loudness (I), loudness range (LRA), and maximum true peak (TP). It supports single-pass use and two-pass processing for files. In dynamic mode, it upsamples audio internally to 192 kHz for true-peak analysis; that is filter behavior, not a recommended delivery sample rate. Linear mode needs measured values and can fall back to dynamic processing if its constraints are not met. See the FFmpeg filters documentation.

Choose a target for the content, not because it is Marathi
Choose a consistent programme target that suits the material and listening context, and set a conservative true-peak ceiling below full scale to leave headroom. The appropriate loudness and dynamics depend on whether the programme is speech, singing, music, or a mix, as well as the creative intent. YouTube’s cited upload specifications give no LUFS upload target, so do not treat a commonly repeated number such as -14 LUFS as an official YouTube requirement.
If you need a broadcast reference for context, EBU R 128 Version 5.0 (2023) recommends -23 LUFS average programme loudness for its broadcast context. It is not a YouTube requirement. EBU R 128 explains that reference.

Normalize carefully and inspect the result
- Analyze each finished programme for integrated loudness and maximum true peak. Compare the playlist items rather than measuring only one representative file.
- Set an appropriate loudness target and true-peak ceiling in your audio tool. With FFmpeg,
loudnormexposes the relevant controls; use two-pass processing when you need measured values for linear mode, and check whether the filter reports that it used dynamic processing instead. - Render the audio or video output, then analyze and audition the rendered version. Processing can change peaks, and a successful normalization reading does not prove that the source sounds clean.
Normalization cannot restore clean sound from distortion that is already baked into a badly clipped source. If the original is damaged, try a cleaner source or careful repair, then listen closely to make sure the repair has not introduced new artifacts.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Listen to every file and the playlist transitions
After processing, listen through each file, including its loudest passage and its beginning and end. Then listen across every transition in the intended order. Two individually unclipped files can still jump sharply in perceived volume when played back to back.

Pay particular attention to changes between spoken introductions, devotional singing, instrumental sections, and different recordings. These are practical listening checks, not a YouTube-mandated mastering protocol. Avoid judging solely from a waveform or a meter: listen to the actual rendered audio at a sensible playback level.

- In YouTube Studio, upload a sample or the prepared files. YouTube distinguishes uploading from publishing, so use a private or unlisted review stage if you need to check playback before making the material public.
- Allow YouTube to process the upload, then play it back and check the loudest moments, quiet passages, and transitions in the playlist order. YouTube’s formatting guidance recommends test uploads when preferred specifications cannot be met; see Video and audio formatting specifications.
- When the result is acceptable, publish the videos or playlist as intended. YouTube Creator Studio’s upload instructions distinguish the upload process from publication.
If you are running a live encoder rather than playing uploaded playlist videos, test before starting the stream. YouTube says tests should include audio and movement like the planned stream; check the preview, monitor stream health, and verify the archive where applicable. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
Troubleshoot clipping and uneven playlist audio
| Symptom | Likely reason | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Distortion is audible even before processing | The source recording may already be clipped or distorted. | Return to a cleaner source if available. Normalization or peak limiting cannot reconstruct audio information that was lost in the original. |
| The meter looks safe, but one item sounds much louder than the next | Peak level and perceived programme loudness are different measures. | Compare integrated loudness across the finished playlist items, then audition the transition and adjust the programme levels with the content in mind. |
| Audio sounds worse after processing | The processing may have altered the sound, or the chosen settings may not suit the source. | Compare the rendered file with the original, inspect the analysis output, and revise the processing conservatively. Listen again to the affected passage and the full transition. |
| Uploaded audio does not match the expected format | The export may not use the intended upload container, codec, or sample rate. | Check the rendered file against YouTube’s upload recommendations—MP4, AAC-LC or Opus, and 48 kHz are the audio starting points—and upload a test copy before relying on the final playlist. |
| A live stream’s sound or stability is wrong despite correct upload exports | Upload preparation does not configure a live encoder. | Check the separate live settings, test with representative audio and movement, and monitor stream health rather than assuming the upload profile applies. |
