At the time of the Version 3.2 announcement, that version was current and scheduled to end October 21, 2026, at 06:00 UTC+8; schedules can change, so confirm the notice in game before acting.
Use a short checklist before spending
- Confirm the live schedule. Check the in-game version notice for maintenance timing, event deadlines, and reward expiration dates. HoYoverse’s Version 3.2 announcement listed an end time of October 21, 2026, at 06:00 UTC+8. That is a posted schedule, not a guarantee that timing will never change.
- Record your stamina-related balances. Open the Compendium resource display and note Battery Charge, Backup Battery Charge, and Ether Batteries. Version 3.0 added this display, making it easier to see what you have before deciding whether to spend or save it. See HoYoverse’s Version 3.0 announcement.
- Check rewards you can claim or still earn. Review Reward Progress for Polychrome rewards across gameplay modes and mission entries in named Hollow Zero modes. Check each activity’s in-game deadline rather than assuming a listed reward remains available. The page was added in Version 2.6; its tracking function makes it a useful stop before doing extra farming. See the Version 2.6 announcement.
- Set one concrete goal. Decide whether you are saving for a confirmed character or banner, working toward a specific upgrade, or simply preserving flexibility until the next notice. A goal helps you distinguish resources you can spend now from items you want to keep untouched.
- Prepare your device for the update. Check available storage and use Wi-Fi when downloading. Follow the official launcher or your platform’s update route when the pre-download is available.
- Reassess once official details arrive. Compare confirmed requirements and event deadlines with your goal, then spend only where the benefit is clear.
How to decide what to save and what to use
For each planned action, ask whether the item is flexible or tied to a specific goal, whether the activity or reward has a deadline, and whether the relevant banner or material requirement is confirmed in an official notice. If any key detail is uncertain, keeping the resource preserves your options.
Ether Batteries are a convenience tradeoff
Version 2.5 notes say Ether Batteries can be crafted using Prepaid Power Cards and Battery Charge, then used to instantly clear eligible challenges for their corresponding upgrade materials and Drive Disc rewards. That can save time when you already know what you need; it does not establish a universally best conversion. Decide based on a confirmed upgrade goal and the value you place on keeping the underlying resources flexible. See HoYoverse’s Version 2.5 update details.
Do not farm for unconfirmed requirements
Without official next-version details, you cannot reliably know which materials or banners will matter to your plan. Avoid using scarce, goal-specific items based on speculation. Once the update announcement is published, use its confirmed information to decide whether targeted farming is worthwhile.

Keep old pre-download estimates in perspective
HoYoverse’s Version 3.1 pre-download notice advised players to ensure sufficient free space and use Wi-Fi. It gave these platform-specific estimates for that version only:

The Version 3.2 announcement listed 10 Encrypted Master Tapes as a login-event reward. Confirm the event’s active window and claim conditions in game before including it in your plans; an announcement does not make a time-limited reward permanently available.
