For a self-install, start with a fresh server that has no other control panel, then check CyberPanel’s current operating-system requirements and follow its live installation guide. Reimaging may erase the server’s data, so back up and verify anything you need before using your provider’s rebuild option. If you want to avoid the manual installation, CyberPanel also offers a preconfigured cloud template.
Should you reimage the server?
CyberPanel’s getting-started guidance says to “Use a fresh server without another control panel.” Reimage the existing machine or provision a new one if it is running another control panel or is not a clean installation. This is the recommended starting point; the guidance does not establish that every existing server setup must be wiped.

Prepare the server before running the installer
- Check the current requirements. Open CyberPanel’s getting-started page and follow its link to the current KnowledgeBase installation instructions. Confirm the operating system release and architecture before creating the server.
- Back up and verify needed data. If you are rebuilding an existing server, save anything you need and confirm the backup is usable before proceeding.
- Provision a clean image or ready-made template. For self-installation, use a supported Linux image with no other control panel. For less manual setup, review the preconfigured template option.
- Confirm access and network availability. Make sure you have the root credentials and a working SSH or provider-console route. Check the provider’s network controls if the server cannot reach the installation resources.
- Use the current official instructions. Follow the KnowledgeBase steps for the OS you selected; do not assume prompts, ports, passwords, or completion times that are not specified in the current guide.
Run the installer only after checking the current guide
The CyberPanel project repository shows this installer command:
sh <(curl https://cyberpanel.net/install.sh || wget -O - https://cyberpanel.net/install.sh)
Because this command downloads and runs a shell script with server access, confirm it against the official instructions immediately before executing it. Understand which account and machine you are granting access to, and run it only on the intended server.
