Phasmophobia supports online co-op for up to four players. Friends on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation can play together when optional cross-play is enabled. The most clearly documented invite route is through Steam’s friends list; console players should follow the current in-game Multiplayer prompts and their platform’s friend or invite flow.
What you need to play together
- A group of no more than four: Kinetic Games lists online co-op for up to four players on its official game page.
- Compatible platforms: Kinetic Games’ Crimson Eye v0.11 announcement introduced optional cross-play for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The console launch platforms named in that announcement were Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PS VR2.
- Cross-play enabled for mixed-platform groups: Cross-play is optional, so check the relevant in-game option if your group spans platforms.
- A way to invite one another: Steam friend-list invitations and joining friends are documented in the v0.11 notes. For other platform combinations, use the current in-game Multiplayer prompts and platform friend or invite flow.
How to set up a group lobby
Open the game’s Multiplayer area and follow its current prompts to create or join a group. The official sources cited here confirm Steam friends-list invitations, but do not establish a complete current sequence for creating a private lobby, copying a lobby code, or joining a console friend by code. Avoid relying on a menu path or code procedure that may have changed between updates.

If you use Steam
Use the Steam friends list to invite a friend or join a friend, as documented in the v0.11 announcement. If the available options do not match what you see, check the latest official patch notes before troubleshooting based on older instructions.
If your group spans platforms
Confirm that everyone is on a platform covered by the announced cross-play support and that cross-play is enabled. Then use the Multiplayer prompts and the appropriate platform friend or invite flow; the cited official documentation does not specify a universal lobby-code route across PC and consoles.

- LEARN SCIENCE: Players will interact and learn the fundamentals of ionic bonding through creating neutrally charged compounds, noble gases, charges, anions and cations, and acids and bases. Science geeks will love playing this game with their classroom, family, and friends in this fast-paced pick-and-pass card game.
- FAST PACED: Ion is a fast-paced card game for 2-7 players spanning around 20-30 minutes. Each round, players compete to build compounds using positively and negatively charged ions. Points are scored for successful compounds, Noble Gases, and achieving Goal Cards. After 3 rounds, the player with the most points wins!
- PICK AND PASS: Each player starts with a hand of 10 cards, and chooses one card to place in front of them. They then pass the rest of their hand to the player on their right, where they continue playing and passing cards until every card is used. Your goal is to match the positive and negative charges on your cards to create neutrally charged compounds, scoring points.
- SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE: All of Genius Games's products are peer-reviewed by a team of 20+ PhD Doctors and Scientists from around the globe. Ion also contains a Science Behind booklet, detailing how the mechanics and cards found in game relate to their real world concepts. Ion is also STEM and NGSS complaint, and was awarded the Dice Tower Seal of Approval. This game is perfect for at home learning, for use in the classroom, or adding some science to your next family game night.
- RADIOACTIVE CARD GAME: Also included is a harder difficulty which includes radioactivity. Recommended for more experience players and a party of 4+ people. This advanced game requires players to manage radioactive decay along with the radioactivity of other players. These cards score points at the end of each round, and additional points are given to the player(s) with the most decay at the end of the game. Step up your game with this challenging card game!
Set up voice on Xbox and PlayStation
Teammate voice chat and voice recognition are related but distinct: chat lets players communicate with one another, while recognition lets a player speak to the ghost or interact with certain equipment. The console setup guide’s label for the recognition setting is Voice Recognition Mode.
Xbox
- Connect a compatible headset with a microphone through the controller’s headset jack or a supported wireless connection. Check that the headset and connection method are compatible with your console.
- From the main menu, open game options in the journal.
- Set Voice Recognition Mode to Voice.
If the microphone disconnects, the game falls back to TEXT until it reconnects, according to the Kinetic Games console voice-recognition guide.

- Dripping horror text inspired by paranormal themes for spooky seasonal appeal
- Bold high-contrast lettering that stands out on dark backgrounds at night events
- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
PS5 and PS VR2
On PS5, you can use the DualSense controller’s built-in microphone or a supported connected headset; a separate headset is not required for microphone access. PS VR2 has a built-in microphone. In the journal’s game options, set Voice Recognition Mode to Voice.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat voice recognition lets you do
When voice recognition is set up, speech can be used for Spirit Box phrases, cursed possessions such as the Ouija Board and Monkey Paw, and saying the ghost’s name near it. These interactions use speech recognition; they are not the same thing as simply speaking to your teammates.

What to check if joining or voice fails
Check the current update first
Voice recognition and voice-chat problems across platforms were listed as under investigation in Kinetic Games’ v0.17.1.4 patch notes. That is historical information, not confirmation of a current outage. Check the newest official patch notes and support channels for the issue affecting your platform.
For older Windows installations
The same v0.17.1.4 notes said Windows 7/8 or other out-of-date Windows installations might need Windows Update and a restart after a voice-server certificate update. Treat this as a dated troubleshooting clue, not a universal fix for current voice problems.

Do not reuse an old Join-button workaround
The v0.17.1.4 notes also say a bug involving pressing Join in Multiplayer without entering a code—which could cause lobby creation issues and audio loss—was fixed. It is a past bug report, not a current workaround. If joining still fails, use the current Multiplayer prompts and check current patch information rather than deliberately repeating the old behavior.
