How to play Fortnite on a Windows PC
Check your PC against Epic’s requirements
Epic publishes three PC specification tiers: minimum, recommended, and Epic Quality. The minimum tier lists Intel HD 4000 or AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics, a Core i3-3225 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and specified Windows 10 versions. The recommended tier lists GTX 960 or R9 280-class graphics with 2 GB of VRAM, a Core i5-7300U or Ryzen 3 3300U-class processor, 16 GB of RAM, an NVMe SSD, and 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. Epic Quality calls for RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT-class graphics with at least 8 GB of VRAM, a Core i7-8700 or Ryzen 7 3700X-class processor, 16 GB of RAM, an NVMe SSD, and 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. These are Epic’s published tiers, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate. See Epic’s current Fortnite PC system requirements before downloading or upgrading; requirements can change.

Install the game
- Download and install the Epic Games Launcher from Epic’s official website.
- Open the launcher and sign in to your Epic account.
- Find Fortnite in the store or your library and choose the install option.
- Allow enough storage for the current game files and future updates.
If your computer only meets the minimum tier, Epic suggests lowering graphics settings and closing background applications. Fortnite is not supported on Linux, virtual machines, or Windows running through Parallels on Mac. If your system is unsuitable for local installation, cloud gaming may be an alternative where available.

Epic lists the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 families, Xbox One family, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch 2 as compatible. Open your console’s official game store, search for Fortnite, and install it. Start the game and follow its sign-in prompts. Epic’s supported-device list is available at its Fortnite platform and device compatibility page.

How to install Fortnite on Android
Epic says Android players can download Fortnite from Google Play or the Epic Games Store app; both distribution routes are available worldwide. A compatible Android device must meet Epic’s listed baseline: 64-bit ARM64, Android 10.0 or later, at least 4 GB of RAM, and Adreno 530 or later, or Mali-G71 MP20/Mali-G72 MP12 or later graphics. Check the live compatibility information before troubleshooting a device or buying accessories.
- Choose Google Play or the Epic Games Store app as your download route.
- Search for Fortnite in that store and follow its installation steps.
- Launch the game and sign in when prompted.

How to play Fortnite on iPhone or iPad
There is no single storefront route that applies everywhere. Epic’s mobile guidance describes App Store availability worldwide except Australia, and Epic Games Store for iOS in the EU, Japan, and Australia. A separate iOS support page describes Epic Games Store on iPhone and iPad in the EU, on iPhone in Japan and Brazil, and AltStore PAL for EU users. Because Epic’s pages differ in the regional scope they describe, check the current country-specific instructions rather than assuming a storefront is available where you live.

Play without downloading Fortnite: cloud gaming
Epic lists Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW, and Amazon Luna as options for playing Fortnite without a local game download. Cloud access depends on the service supporting your device and region, and may be subject to account or plan conditions. Epic’s iOS guidance also calls for a stable internet connection and availability in a supported region. Check the selected service’s current requirements before relying on it; the options are not ranked here because service availability and conditions vary.
Cloud-play checklist
- Confirm Fortnite and your device are supported by the service.
- Check regional availability and any account or plan requirements.
- Use a stable internet connection.
- On mobile, plan to use touch controls or a compatible external controller; mouse and keyboard are not supported on mobile.
How to change Fortnite controls on PC or console
Open the in-game menu, select the gear icon, and choose the settings tab for mouse and keyboard or gamepad. The menu shortcut depends on the platform: Esc on PC or Mac, Options on PlayStation, Menu on Xbox, and + on Switch. If a setting you expect is missing, the selected game mode may affect which options appear. See Epic’s control-settings instructions.

Using a controller on mobile
Epic says external controllers can be used with Fortnite on mobile, PC, or console. Compatibility varies by device and controller, so check that both work together before buying an accessory. Epic does not name or endorse a particular controller. Epic also says mouse and keyboard cannot be used with mobile devices, including when Fortnite is played through Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW, or Amazon Luna.
