Counter-Strike 2 has no officially listed macOS version. Valve lists Windows and SteamOS + Linux, not macOS, so you cannot install and play CS2 natively through Steam on a Mac. The dependable option is to play on a Windows or Linux computer that meets the game’s requirements. CrossOver may be something to experiment with, but available evidence does not establish that it runs the current CS2 build reliably or supports online play.
Can you play Counter-Strike 2 on a Mac?
Not through a native macOS version listed by Valve. The Steam listing for Counter-Strike 2 specifies Windows and SteamOS + Linux requirements but does not list macOS. Steam Support explains that the message “Game is not available on your current platform” means the game is not supported on the operating system currently in use (Steam Support: Game is not available on your current platform).

That does not rule out every possible workaround, but it does mean there is no officially listed Mac installation route to rely on. Valve’s published requirements do not describe a tested Mac configuration or promise that a translation layer will work.
What are Counter-Strike 2’s official system requirements?
Valve’s Steam listing, accessed in 2026, gives these minimums. They are requirements, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or smooth competitive play.

See the current CS2 Steam listing before choosing a computer, since requirements can change. The listed Windows and Linux baselines do not establish how a Mac would perform through software that translates Windows applications.
Option 1: Install CS2 on a supported Windows or Linux computer
This is the straightforward route supported by Valve’s platform listing. Use a Windows or Linux computer that meets the requirements for that operating system, then install Steam and Counter-Strike 2 there. If you are buying a system specifically for the game, treat the published specifications as a minimum baseline—not evidence that a particular machine will deliver your desired performance. Check current requirements and independent tests for the exact model before buying.

Option 2: Try CrossOver, with important caveats
CrossOver is software designed to run Windows applications on Mac. Its general product documentation covers Intel and Apple silicon Macs, but that does not confirm compatibility with Counter-Strike 2. The available CrossOver user guide is for version 23 and dates from 2023; it cannot establish how the current CrossOver version, macOS release, and CS2 build behave together (CrossOver Mac user guide).
In particular, there is no established evidence here that a CrossOver setup can run the current game reliably, support online play, or provide acceptable performance on a specific Mac. Compatibility can be affected by the Mac model, macOS version, translation software, game updates, and online-play or anti-cheat behavior. Treat any attempt as an unsupported experiment, not an official method or a dependable choice for competitive play.

If you are considering it, look for recent CS2-specific reports for your exact Mac and software versions before spending money or time on setup. A general statement that CrossOver supports Mac hardware is not proof that this particular game works.
