To pay a merchant with UPI using Samsung Wallet in India, open the app, select your UPI account, scan the merchant’s BHIM UPI QR, confirm the recipient and amount, then authorize with your UPI PIN when prompted. Samsung’s UPI instructions still use the older name “Samsung Pay”; Samsung says Samsung Pay has been integrated under Samsung Wallet. The exact screens and available features can vary by phone and software.
Pay a merchant by scanning a UPI QR
- Open Samsung Wallet (or Samsung Pay, if that is the name shown on your phone) and select your UPI account or UPI card.
- Tap the scan-code control to open the scanner, then scan the merchant’s BHIM UPI QR.
- Check the recipient and payment details displayed by the app before proceeding.
- Enter the amount and, if you want, a remark. Tap Pay.
- Enter your UPI PIN when prompted and wait for the payment confirmation. Samsung’s guide says both payer and beneficiary receive a confirmation message.
Review the recipient details before authorizing: scanning a QR does not make an unintended payment safe to approve. These steps follow Samsung’s India UPI instructions.

If you do not see a UPI account in Wallet, Samsung’s published setup guide describes this general flow. Labels may differ in the current app, so follow the wording shown on your device.

- Choose your bank, then use Add/Link/Manage Bank Account to link an eligible account. The mobile number used for setup must match the number registered with that bank account.
- If the account needs a UPI PIN, select the account marked as awaiting verification and start PIN generation. Samsung’s documented flow includes bank verification, which may ask for debit or ATM card details, followed by setting the PIN. Banks and current setup paths may differ.
If bank-account verification fails, check that the registered mobile number is active on the phone and contact your bank for account-specific help.

Samsung’s India guide also describes sending money to a UPI VPA or to a bank account using its account number and IFSC, paying online by entering a VPA and approving a notification, handling pending collect requests, paying bills, and paying for cab rides with a linked VPA. These are routes described in the guide, not a guarantee that each is currently available on every device or Wallet installation.
Check whether Wallet and UPI are available on your phone
Samsung says Wallet availability and features vary by country or region, device model, carrier, and firmware. Its India product page directs users to check device compatibility and says Samsung Wallet or Samsung Pay can be downloaded from Galaxy Store or Google Play, followed by Samsung account sign-in. Samsung’s published UPI instructions do not provide a current exhaustive list of supported India models. Check the Samsung Wallet India page and the options shown in your installed app.

Biometric UPI authorization is not confirmed for every device
On 30 October 2025, Samsung India announced UPI onboarding during new-device setup and biometric authentication, saying users “will soon be able to access the app and make UPI payments using just their Galaxy device’s fingerprint or face recognition.” The announcement described features that would begin rolling out across supported Galaxy devices; it does not establish that biometric UPI authorization is active on every model today.
