For an India-addressed, self-serve Google Cloud Billing account, Google lists credit and debit cards as payment methods, with billing in INR. UPI is documented only for qualified organizations that meet Google’s India-specific requirements. Your Compute Engine bill is separate from the payment method question: it depends on the VM, disk, region, runtime and network use. The sources cited here explain billing and cost planning, but do not establish how to configure a Compute Engine VM to send a YouTube live stream.
Which payment methods can you use in India?
Google’s current Cloud Billing documentation lists India as an INR billing country and lists credit and debit cards for self-serve billing. UPI is another documented route, but it is not presented as available to every individual account.

Choose the billing country before creating the account
During billing account setup, select India if that is the billing country that applies to you. Google says the country affects available payment methods and determines the currency automatically; neither country nor currency can later be changed on that billing account. What to do if a card payment is declined
Google says automatic card payments can be declined if the card does not support automatic payments or, for new accounts, if costs exceed the RBI-set limit described in its guidance. Google’s stated options include making a manual payment, trying another card, or considering a local reseller that may offer other payment methods or help with invoicing. Availability depends on your account and the provider; none of these routes guarantees approval. Resolve Cloud Billing issues.
- Open the billing account’s payment settings and check the decline message and payment status.
- If available for your account, make a manual payment or try a different supported card, as Google recommends.
- If you need invoice billing or another payment route, ask Google about a local reseller and verify the reseller’s terms directly.
How to estimate the Compute Engine bill
There is no reliable universal monthly price for a YouTube-streaming VM. Compute Engine charges depend on the selected machine type and region, how long it runs, its disk configuration and network traffic. These are separate cost considerations, so estimate the specific workload rather than treating the VM price as the whole bill. Google’s pricing documentation states that vCPU and memory resources have a one-minute minimum charge. Compute Engine pricing.

- Use the Google Cloud pricing calculator to model the machine type, region, runtime, disk and expected traffic you intend to use.
- Review the estimate’s included services and the applicable Compute Engine SKUs; confirm the billing account currency and actual usage charges in Cloud Billing.
- Revisit the estimate if the VM runs longer, uses different storage, or sends more network traffic than assumed.
The cited Google Cloud billing and pricing documentation does not establish a suitable VM size or the YouTube ingest protocol, encoder settings or VM setup steps. Do not treat a cost estimate as proof that a particular configuration will perform adequately for a live stream.

Tax treatment depends on the contracting entity shown for your Google Cloud purchase and your billing details. Google says Google Cloud services sold by Google Cloud India Private Limited to customers with an India billing address are subject to 18% India GST regardless of GSTIN status. In a distinct case, for customers in India contracted with Google Asia Pacific, Google states that a valid GSTIN is required for 0% GST from February 1, 2025; without one, the stated rate is 18%.
