Pausing stops its ads from showing and prevents further charges, while keeping the campaign available to enable again. Choose Remove only if you want to stop it permanently.
Pause a campaign in the Google Ads web interface
- Sign in to your Google Ads account and open Campaigns from the Campaigns menu.
- Find the campaign you want to stop. Its status icon appears beside its name.
- Click the status icon and choose Pause.
Pause several campaigns at once
- In Campaigns, select the checkboxes beside the campaigns you want to pause.
- Choose Edit, then Pause.
- Check that the selected rows are the campaigns you intend to stop before applying the change.

Pause a campaign in the Google Ads mobile app
- Open Campaigns from the bottom navigation.
- Tap the campaign you want to pause.
- Tap its status switch, choose Pause, and confirm.
For an ad group in the mobile app, open More, choose Ad groups, select the ad group, change its status switch, and confirm. Google’s steps are in Pause or enable campaigns and ad groups (Google Ads mobile app).

What pausing means for ads and charges
Google says pausing a campaign stops its ads from showing and prevents further charges. You may still be billed for charges accrued while it was running, so pausing does not erase an existing balance. Google’s mobile guidance notes this billing distinction in Pause or enable campaigns and ad groups (Google Ads mobile app).

Enabling the campaign changes its campaign-level status; it does not necessarily enable items paused separately within it. Check the following:

- Ad groups and keywords: Enable any that were separately paused. Google Ads Editor’s instructions for pausing and resuming campaigns are at Pause, remove, or resume campaigns.
- Budget and bidding: Check the campaign budget and bidding strategy.
- Policy status: Review whether an ad has a policy issue or is otherwise ineligible. Paused ads remain subject to policy review, and a paused campaign or ad group can make an ad ineligible to serve. See Find your ad status.
Google’s guidance does not promise a fixed time for serving to resume after a campaign is enabled.
