In Zapier’s Screenshot API app, set the Screenshot Width and Screenshot Height fields in the Take Screenshot action. In the separate Scrolling Screenshot action, the fields are called Browser Width and Browser Height. For any other screenshot provider, use API by Zapier and send the provider’s own width and height parameters in the query string. This guide covers both routes, including fixed versus mapped values and the errors you are most likely to hit.
Route 1: the native Screenshot API app
Zapier’s Screenshot API integration listing shows two separate actions, and each names its dimension fields differently.

The listing marks the page URL and the output selection as required. The dimension fields have no required marker, so they are optional. The listing does not publish defaults or accepted ranges for them, so test any value you depend on and don’t assume one.
Steps
- In the Zap editor, add an action step and choose the Screenshot API app.
- Choose Take Screenshot for a normal capture, or Scrolling Screenshot for a scrolling one.
- Fill the required page URL and output selection.
- Fill the width and height fields: Screenshot Width / Screenshot Height in Take Screenshot, or Browser Width / Browser Height in Scrolling Screenshot.
- Test the step and open the result to check the image.
Fixed values or mapped values
If every capture should be the same size, type the numbers directly, for example 1280 and 800. If the size varies per record, click into the field and insert the width and height outputs from an earlier step, such as a spreadsheet row or form response. This is Zapier’s ordinary mapping workflow. The integration listing does not describe field-by-field mapping for this app, so run a test with real data first. Mapped values often arrive as text, so strip units like “px” or spaces upstream, for example with a Formatter step.

Route 2: API by Zapier for any screenshot provider
If the native action lacks a parameter you need (a device preset, a CSS selector, dark mode), call the provider’s HTTP endpoint with the API Request action. Zapier’s help article on API requests (updated June 29, 2026) says the parameters go in the dedicated Query string parameters section and that mapped values from earlier steps can be used. It also says the action expects you to know HTTP requests and the target API’s documentation.
- Add the API by Zapier app and choose the API Request action.
- Set the method (GET for query-based screenshot endpoints) and the base URL, with no parameters appended to it.
- Add each parameter as a name and value pair in Query string parameters. Use the exact names from the provider’s docs for the screenshot URL, width and height.
- Add authentication as the provider requires, either as a query parameter or a header.
- Test and inspect the response. Most screenshot endpoints return image bytes, so check whether your next step can accept a file or whether you need a hosted URL instead.
Zapier has no universal screenshot schema, so the names and units depend on the provider. For example, the screenshot-api.net documentation calls them width and height, defines them as viewport size in CSS pixels, and lists defaults of 1280 and 800. It documents full-page capture as a separate full_page setting, with full-page height capped at 4320 pixels. Those details apply only to that vendor’s raw API, not to Zapier’s integration fields or to other providers.

The API Request action is labelled beta in Zapier’s help, which says it can change and is available on paid plans. Check the current editor labels and your plan before building on it.
