The earbuds must be discoverable for the phone to find them; pairing-mode controls depend on the earbud model.
Connect earbuds through Bluetooth settings
- Prepare the earbuds. Charge or turn them on, keep them near the phone, and activate pairing mode using the instructions for that make and model. A device that is not in pairing mode may not appear in the phone’s Bluetooth list.
- Open Bluetooth on the Galaxy phone. Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is on.
- Select the earbuds. Wait for their name to appear among available devices, then tap it. Accept a pairing request if prompted.
Samsung cautions that menu names and screen layouts can vary by model and software version. If your phone uses different labels, look for Bluetooth in Settings.

Pair Galaxy Buds
Use QuickPair when it appears
Samsung says Galaxy Buds can show an automatic QuickPair setup prompt on compatible Galaxy devices updated to One UI 8.0. If the prompt appears, follow its on-screen instructions. This documented QuickPair flow is for Galaxy Buds; it is not a universal method for other earbuds. Samsung’s QuickPair instructions describe the feature and eligibility.
Enter pairing mode manually
Galaxy Buds pairing gestures vary by generation. Samsung’s instructions specify these steps for the models below:

- Galaxy Buds2 and Buds2 Pro: With the earbuds in the open case, touch and hold both earbuds simultaneously for more than three seconds.
- Earlier Galaxy Buds: The touchpad procedure differs. Follow the instructions for the specific model rather than applying one generation’s gesture to another.
Once the Buds are in pairing mode, choose them under Settings > Connections > Bluetooth. Depending on the model and software, you can also select the Buds in the Galaxy Wearable app and follow its setup prompts. Samsung provides model-specific guidance in its Galaxy Buds connection instructions.
If the earbuds do not appear or connect
The phone cannot find them
- Put the earbuds back into pairing mode; simply turning them on may not make them discoverable.
- If they are Galaxy Buds, use the pairing method for that generation. For earlier Buds, Samsung Canada notes that if pairing stops after the case has been open for three minutes, closing and reopening the case restarts active pairing.
- For third-party earbuds, check the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact pairing-mode control.
They were paired before
If a saved connection is not working, remove or unpair the earbuds from the phone’s Bluetooth settings, then put them into pairing mode and pair them again. Restart the phone and earbuds and check for software updates if the issue persists.

They connect but do not stay connected
For Galaxy Buds, Samsung advises checking that the earbuds fit properly, keeping them close to the phone, reducing obstructions or interference, confirming they are charged, and checking for earbud software updates. See Samsung’s Galaxy Buds connection troubleshooting guidance.
Audio works, but a function does not
A Bluetooth pairing can succeed without enabling every function. If sound works but calls or another feature do not, check the device’s Bluetooth options and permissions for that function. Samsung’s Bluetooth connection guide covers device connection and related settings.
