To pair Bluetooth headphones with an Apple Watch, put the headphones in discovery mode, then open Settings > Bluetooth on the Watch and tap their name. AirPods already set up with your iPhone are ready to use with Apple Watch; forgetting AirPods from the Watch, however, removes them from every device signed in to the same Apple Account.
Pair Bluetooth headphones with Apple Watch
- Follow the headphone maker’s instructions to put the headphones in discovery mode.
- On Apple Watch, open Settings, then tap Bluetooth.
- Tap the headphones when they appear in the device list.

Connect AirPods to Apple Watch
If your AirPods are already set up with an iPhone, Apple says they are ready to use with Apple Watch. AirPods set up with one Apple device connect automatically to other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account. If you need to connect manually, open Settings > Bluetooth on Apple Watch and tap the AirPods.

Forget AirPods from Apple Watch
- On Apple Watch, open Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the Info button next to your AirPods.
- Tap Forget Device.
Forgetting AirPods this way removes them from all devices signed in to the same Apple Account, not just the Watch. To use them again, pair them with a device associated with that account. Apple documents this removal behavior specifically for AirPods; it should not be assumed to describe the account-wide effect of removing every third-party Bluetooth headset. If the Bluetooth menu differs
Apple’s general headphone guide does not state a minimum watchOS version, and menu wording can vary across releases. If the listed path or controls do not match your Watch, check for a watchOS update and consult the instructions for your headphone model, particularly for how to enable discovery mode.
