To pair Bluetooth earbuds, put them in pairing mode, open Bluetooth settings on your phone or computer, and select the earbuds from the available-device list. If they were paired before, select them under saved devices instead. If pairing fails, first check charge, proximity, and pairing mode; then troubleshoot based on whether the earbuds are missing, will not connect, or connect without playing sound.
Pairing versus connecting
Pairing is the initial setup that saves the earbuds on a phone or computer. The earbuds must be discoverable during this step. Later, a previously paired set may reconnect automatically or can be selected from the host’s saved-device list. On Android, Google says paired devices remain paired until you unpair them. Google’s Android instructions and Microsoft’s Windows instructions describe these separate stages.

The control that activates pairing mode differs by earbud model. Follow the maker’s manual rather than assuming a particular button or hold duration. As Microsoft puts it, “Your Bluetooth device must be in pairing mode and within range of your PC.” That is a necessary setup condition, not an explanation for every connection failure. Pair earbuds with a phone or computer
Android
- Swipe down from the top of the screen, then touch and hold Bluetooth.
- Choose Pair new device. If that option is absent, check Available devices or use More > Refresh, if shown.
- Put the earbuds in pairing mode using their manual, tap their name, and follow any prompts.
- For earbuds paired previously, turn on Bluetooth and select them under Saved devices.
Android menus can differ by device and version; Google notes that some steps apply only to Android 15 and later or require supported hardware. If a passcode prompt appears, check the earbud manual instead of assuming a code is required. Google Android Help

To remove an old pairing, open the accessory’s information control in Bluetooth settings and choose Forget This Device, then repeat setup. Apple notes that forgetting an accessory can unpair it from devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple’s third-party accessory instructions
Windows 11 and Windows 10
- Confirm the PC has Bluetooth and that Bluetooth is enabled.
- Put the earbuds in pairing mode using the instructions for their model.
- On Windows 11, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices and add the earbuds, or use the taskbar Bluetooth quick setting. Swift Pair may appear for supported accessories that are nearby and discoverable.
- On Windows 10, use Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device.
- If the earbuds are listed but will not connect, remove the saved device and add it again.
Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, so Windows 11 is the current route; the Windows 10 path is included for legacy installations. If the PC lacks Bluetooth hardware, Microsoft says a USB Bluetooth adapter can add it. Microsoft’s Windows pairing instructions

Fix the problem based on what happens
The earbuds do not appear in the device list
- Charge the earbuds and keep them close to the phone or computer.
- Confirm they are actually in pairing or discovery mode; the exact action is model-specific.
- Refresh the available-device list if the platform offers that control.
Apple gives an approximate pairing distance of about 33 feet (10 meters) in its current iPhone user guide, but that is not a guarantee of usable range in every environment. Apple iPhone user guide For other checks, see Google’s Android help and Apple’s connection troubleshooting.
The earbuds appear but will not connect
Remove or forget the saved earbud entry on the target device, then put the earbuds back in pairing mode and try again. If they are connected to another phone or computer, disconnect or unpair them there while troubleshooting the intended connection. Apple specifically recommends unpairing an accessory from other devices when it pairs elsewhere but not with the target iPhone or iPad. The connection drops
Check the earbuds’ charge and move them closer to the host. On Windows, connection trouble can also involve drivers, Bluetooth services, or updates; use Microsoft’s troubleshooting and update guidance rather than assuming a single cause. Microsoft Support
The device says connected, but there is no sound
On Windows, check that the earbuds are selected as the sound output and that volume is up. If sound still fails, investigate the driver and audio compatibility. Microsoft lists a 2-channel, 16-bit, 48 kHz output format as a troubleshooting option and advises checking whether the device supports A2DP for higher-quality audio streaming; these are Windows-specific suggestions, not universal Bluetooth settings. Only one earbud plays on Windows 11
One-sided audio can occur in some Windows LE Audio pairing setups, but it is not the cause of every one-earbud problem. Microsoft’s re-pairing procedure is to remove the device, place both earbuds in the charging case, put them into pairing mode as the maker instructs, and add them again, pairing both sides if prompted. Microsoft’s one-channel audio guidance
Bluetooth is missing or cannot be turned on
This points to the computer’s Bluetooth hardware, driver, or operating-system support rather than an earbud pairing gesture. Confirm that the PC supports Bluetooth; an adapter is relevant only if the computer lacks Bluetooth. Microsoft Windows Bluetooth troubleshooting
