Organize Streamlabs Video Editor media by creating folders inside a project, uploading files into the structure you want, then using the built-in sort and search tools to find assets again. For a batch that is already organized on your computer, upload its parent folder: Streamlabs says the folder hierarchy is preserved.
Create folders for a project
- Open the project workspace and right-click in the project space.
- Select New Folder.
- Choose whether downloads are allowed or the folder should remain private.
- Name the folder and select Create.
Folders can contain subfolders. A practical starting layout might separate footage, audio, graphics, and exports; that is an organizational suggestion, not a Streamlabs-prescribed taxonomy.

Put media into the right folders
Move files already in the project
Drag a file onto a folder to place it at that folder level. To select multiple files, the Streamlabs guide says to hold Shift and Command/Control while clicking. To copy a folder or multiple files elsewhere in the account, open the folder’s three-dot menu and choose Copy To.

When a folder on your computer already has the hierarchy you want, drag it into the project. Streamlabs says uploaded folders retain their folder structure, which can save you from rebuilding it item by item.

Upload individual files
Drag media from a local folder into the project, click the plus sign next to Media, or right-click and choose Add Media. Upload processing continues in the background; you can pause or cancel it.
Find media after uploading
Browse and sort
Use the view control to switch between list and tile views. The documented sort options are date, name, file, and folder. Choose a view that suits the task: tiles can make visual assets easier to scan, while list view can help when comparing filenames.

Search with Jump To
Use the Jump To bar at the top left of the project view to search for a project or file within your account. Sorting works well for scanning a collection; Jump To is more direct when you already know the name or project you need.
Collect media from collaborators
- Open the project’s Upload Links tab and create an upload link.
- Set an expiration date and passphrase if appropriate before sharing it.
- Manage existing links from the same area: links can be activated or deactivated, or deleted.
Upload links are for collecting contributions; they do not replace folders, sorting, or search as ways to organize and retrieve media. Share the passphrase separately from the link when you use one.

A simple repeatable organization routine
- Create project folders before uploading, or prepare a local folder structure first.
- Upload whole folders when you want to retain the structure; add individual items to existing folders when files arrive separately.
- Use a consistent naming pattern, such as project-topic-date, if it helps your team distinguish similar assets. Streamlabs does not prescribe a naming convention.
- Sort by name or folder for a structured scan, or search with Jump To when you know what you are looking for.
- Use an upload link when collaborators need to contribute files, and set access details deliberately.
