Mega Crit confirms that Slay the Spire 2 is Steam Deck compatible, but it has not published a Deck-specific settings preset or performance benchmark. That means there is no verified “best” resolution, frame cap, Proton version, or power limit to copy. Start with the game’s defaults, check the current Steam compatibility label, and treat any tuning as something to test on your own Deck rather than an established recommendation.
What Steam Deck compatibility does—and does not—confirm
Mega Crit’s FAQ answers “Yes!” to the question of whether Slay the Spire 2 is Steam Deck compatible: Mega Crit’s FAQ. This is the developer’s compatibility statement, not a performance measurement and not confirmation of the game’s current Valve rating.

Valve’s rating process examines controller input, operation at the Deck’s default resolution, text legibility, seamless operation, and system support. Valve says games should support the default 1280×800 or 1280×720 resolution, have good default settings, and keep text legible. Its labels are Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown; the review process is ongoing. Check the current Steam store page or your Deck library for the live rating rather than inferring it from Mega Crit’s FAQ: Valve’s Steam Deck compatibility criteria.
Start with defaults, then make one change at a time
No official source reviewed for this guide provides recommended Steam Deck graphics settings, a Deck-specific frame-rate or battery test, or a preferred compatibility layer. There is therefore no evidence-backed preset to prescribe. Begin with the game’s default settings and use the Deck’s default resolution; if you change a setting, change only one at a time so you can tell whether readability, responsiveness, or stability actually improves.

Do not assume that a particular refresh rate, frame cap, TDP limit, Proton version, or graphics setting is optimal. Without comparable testing on the same Deck model and game build, those would be guesses, not confirmed optimization advice. If you are evaluating a change, watch for legible card and menu text, responsive controls, smooth transitions, and any crashes or other instability during ordinary play.
Why performance advice can change
Slay the Spire 2 is an Early Access game. Steam’s listing explains that Early Access games are incomplete and may change; it says the planned full version may add content, bug fixes, greater hardware compatibility, and other changes: the Steam store listing. Mega Crit likewise says it intends to continue fixing bugs and improving hardware compatibility.

In an update dated April 17, 2026, Mega Crit listed bug fixing and compatibility and performance improvements as ongoing work, without firm timelines: Mega Crit’s news and updates. That dated note is evidence of continuing work at that time, not a guarantee about the exact performance of a later build. Recheck the current game version and Steam rating after updates; changes to the game can make older tuning advice less useful.
