Whether a Mac mini can deliver a smooth 1080p experience depends on its chip and unified memory: CD PROJEKT RED’s published 60 FPS 1080p-class tiers name M3 Pro with 18 GB RAM, or M2 Max/M3 Max with 32 GB RAM. Those are developer targets, not a guarantee for every Mac mini. Check your exact model before expecting a particular frame rate.
Can a Mac mini run Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p?
Yes, on supported Apple silicon Macs, but “1080p” describes the output resolution, not a frame-rate promise. CD PROJEKT RED lists an M1 with 16 GB unified memory as the minimum tier, targeting 30 FPS at 1440×900 or 1600×900. Its 60 FPS tiers at 1800×1125 or 1920×1080 name an M3 Pro with 18 GB, or an M2 Max/M3 Max with 32 GB.

The published Mac requirements do not name M4 or M4 Pro, so they do not establish a specific 1080p FPS for those Mac mini configurations. Apple’s 2024 Mac mini specifications list M4 models with 16 GB unified memory (configurable to 24 GB or 32 GB) and M4 Pro models with 24 GB (configurable to 48 GB or 64 GB). Do not infer their performance by interpolating between chip generations. The developer’s published targets are configuration guidance, not benchmarks for every scene or a guarantee for every Mac mini. CD PROJEKT RED’s Mac system requirements provide the named tiers.

- macOS: The native Mac game requires macOS 15.5 or later.
- Chip and memory: The stated minimum is an M1 with 16 GB RAM. Intel Mac mini models and Apple silicon configurations below that memory threshold are outside the developer’s stated minimum.
- Drive: Installation must be on an SSD; HDDs are unsupported.
- Space: CD PROJEKT RED lists 92 GB for downloads from GOG, Epic Games Store, or Steam, and 159 GB for the App Store version. Reserve additional temporary installation space; the amount varies by store, files, and whether this is a first install or an update.
The Mac edition is available from the Mac App Store, GOG.com, Steam, and Epic Games Store. CD PROJEKT RED says existing owners on those storefronts can download the Apple silicon Mac version for free. See the July 17, 2025 Mac release announcement for the release details.

Start with “For This Mac”
On first launch, choose the built-in “For This Mac” preset and use the resolution it assigns as your baseline. CD PROJEKT RED says the preset detects the Mac and chooses device-specific settings and output resolution; more powerful hardware receives higher settings. For an external display, the developer recommends keeping the preset’s assigned resolution. Its support page warns that “Using a higher resolution will significantly affect FPS.”
The default preset does not enable ray tracing, regardless of the Mac’s capability. CD PROJEKT RED says: “For optimal experience, Ray Tracing is not applied in the default ‘For this Mac’ preset, regardless of your hardware’s capabilities.” Turn it on only if you are deliberately trading performance for that visual effect.

Optimize 1080p settings one change at a time
- Confirm the assigned resolution and target. Run the game with “For This Mac” first, rather than immediately forcing 1920×1080. Note the preset’s settings and observe performance in the scenes you care about.
- Decide whether output resolution or FPS matters more. If performance is below your goal, try a lower output resolution before changing several graphics options at once. Raising resolution is a high-impact change, and the developer cautions it can significantly reduce FPS.
- Understand MetalFX scaling. The Mac version uses MetalFX upscaling and dynamic resolution scaling. The game can render internally below the selected output resolution, then reconstruct the image at that output size; dynamic scaling can adjust rendering under load. Thus a 1920×1080 output does not necessarily mean every frame was rendered internally at 1920×1080.
- Compare after each adjustment. Change one setting, revisit the same type of gameplay, and judge both smoothness and image quality. If a change does not help enough, revert it before testing another. Avoid assuming that selecting 1080p alone yields 60 FPS on hardware below the developer’s named 60 FPS tiers.
Apple’s WWDC26 session on bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to Mac describes the game’s MetalFX and dynamic-resolution approach. The preset also combines a target frame rate, resolution boundaries, VSync, and HDR when the display supports it. These are performance mechanisms and configuration choices, not a promise of a particular FPS on an unspecified Mac mini.
Use the official tiers as a starting point, not a guarantee

These are CD PROJEKT RED’s published Mac system-requirement targets. They are not a per-model Mac mini benchmark table, and the cited requirements do not specify a named tier for M4 or M4 Pro. The figures therefore cannot establish an exact FPS for those machines.
