Before tour dates go on sale, make your Instagram profile answer three questions quickly: is this the artist’s account, what is current, and where can I find tour information? A clear identity, concise bio, well-ordered links, and up-to-date profile media make that handoff easier. They do not guarantee ticket sales.
What should be at the top of my profile before tour dates go on sale?
Start with the details a fan sees before opening a post: your name, account category, bio, and links. The goal is to make the account recognizable and put the most time-sensitive destination within easy reach.

Make the account easy to recognize
Use the artist name fans know from the tour announcement, and choose a relevant category. Orphiq’s artist profile setup guide recommends a professional account for musicians, usually Creator, with Musician/Band as a relevant category. Check the current labels in Instagram, since controls can change.

Choose an account type with music access in mind
Creator and Business accounts can differ in features, and music availability is one consideration. Orphiq notes that certain Business accounts may not have access to Instagram’s licensed music library; availability can also vary by region. That does not mean every Business account is blocked, or that a Creator account guarantees access. Check the music options available to your account before changing types. Orphiq says you can change account type, but consider the consequences before moving away from a professional account.

Use the bio to orient visitors
Keep the bio focused on identity and the current music context—for example, artist name, genre, and a new release or tour pointer. Orphiq reports a 150-character bio limit, but Instagram’s current limit was not confirmed in its Help Center documentation here; check the app if the exact count matters. Avoid using the space to list every role or project.
Where should I put the ticket link?
Put the tour or ticket destination first when it is the most urgent action, and test it by opening the link from your profile. A working link should lead to the intended event or ticket page, not an outdated announcement or general homepage.

Orphiq reports that Instagram profiles can have up to five links and that they can be reordered. Treat both details as subject to change and verify the current limit and controls in the app. Its suggested destinations include:

Order links around the current campaign, rather than keeping a fixed list all year. When an on-sale window passes or a release becomes less current, reconsider which destination belongs first.

Should I use Instagram’s links or a link-in-bio page?
Use native profile links if they cover the destinations fans need and you want each destination managed directly on Instagram. A separate landing page is optional: it can collect several destinations behind one address, or display Instagram posts elsewhere. It is not required to make a profile tour-ready.

Should I show contact information publicly?
Orphiq says a professional profile can display directions, phone, and email, and that people who tap Contact can see the listed details. Only enable contact information you intend to make public. For booking inquiries, use a booking or management address rather than a personal email or phone number.
Which posts and profile music should I update?
Make the visible media match what a new visitor needs to know now. Orphiq reports that profiles can pin up to three posts and add a profile song; verify the current controls and availability in Instagram. A pinned post could be a tour announcement or current release, while profile music can reflect the present musical context. Neither feature has established evidence here of a particular ticket-sales effect.

What is a practical pre-tour profile check?
- Confirm the artist name, relevant category, and account type in Instagram settings.
- Rewrite the bio to identify the artist and current music context concisely.
- Place the tour or ticket destination where it is easiest to find, then open it to confirm it works.
- Decide whether booking contact details should be visible, and use a public-facing address.
- Review pinned posts and profile music for relevance to the current tour or release.
- Revisit the link order as dates, on-sale windows, releases, and campaign priorities change.
