Open Start > Settings > System > Display > Graphics. In Windows 11, you can use this page to set a graphics preference for an individual app or game; the available GPU choices depend on your PC.
Open Graphics settings
- Select Start, then Settings.
- Go to System > Display > Graphics.
Microsoft documents this route for Windows 11 and includes the same Graphics page in its battery-saving guidance. Microsoft’s Windows 11 guidance and battery guidance cover the page.

Choose a graphics preference for an app in Windows 11
- Under Custom options for apps, select the app or game. If it is not shown, the documented instructions do not establish a universal fix; available entries and controls can vary.
- Select Options.
- Choose a graphics preference, then select Save.
- Restart the app or game, as Microsoft instructs, for the setting to take effect.
What the choices mean
| Preference | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| Let Windows decide (Power saving) | Leave the choice to Windows. |
| Power saving | Favor lower power use. Microsoft identifies this choice as a way to help extend battery life. |
| High performance | Prefer higher graphics performance when that option is available. |
Microsoft describes choosing a GPU for an app or game when the PC has more than one graphics processor. Not every system will show the same options, and Microsoft does not promise a measured performance or battery-life change for any choice. See Microsoft’s Windows 11 graphics preference instructions.

Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. Microsoft says that after that date it no longer provides free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. This support change does not itself mean the Graphics page cannot be opened on an installed Windows 10 PC. Details: Microsoft’s Windows 10 support notice.
