On a ZTE phone with a pinhole-release SIM tray, place the supplied SIM-eject tool in the small hole on the tray and press gently until the tray releases. Pull it out, position the SIM as shown in the manual for your exact model, then slide the tray back in carefully. Tray location, card size, layout and power instructions vary across ZTE phones.
Find the SIM tray and its release hole
First identify your phone’s exact model and consult its manual or tray diagram. ZTE manuals for the Blade S7, Blade S6 and GRAND X View 3 show the pinhole-eject mechanism, but they do not establish one location or layout for every ZTE phone. The manuals are available from ZTE: Blade S7 Quick Start Guide, Blade S6 Quick Start Guide and GRAND X View 3 User Manual.

Look for the card tray outline and the tiny eject hole beside it. Do not assume that every small opening on the phone is a SIM release hole; check the diagram before inserting anything.

- Check the power guidance. Follow the instructions for your model. The Blade S6 Quick Start Guide says to power off before installing or removing a SIM, while the GRAND X View 3 manual says that model’s nano-SIM can be installed or removed while powered on.
- Insert the eject tool. Put the supplied SIM-tray eject tool into the hole that belongs to the tray. Press straight in with gentle, steady pressure until the tray pops out. ZTE’s guides specify a tray eject tool.
- Pull out the tray. Grip the released edge and draw the tray out gently. If it does not release with normal pressure, stop and recheck the model diagram rather than forcing it.
- Position the card correctly. Use the SIM size and orientation shown in the manual. Check whether the tray has a second position for a memory card; the GRAND X View 3 manual, for example, illustrates a nano-SIM and optional microSDXC arrangement.
- Reinsert the tray. Align it with the slot and slide it back carefully and fully. Do not force it if it catches or sits crooked.
Use the right card and tool
Use a standard SIM in the size specified for your phone. The Blade S7 Quick Start Guide warns against using other kinds of SIM cards or a non-standard micro-SIM or nano-SIM cut from another card, and directs users to obtain a standard SIM from their service provider. That warning is specific to the Blade S7 guide; check your own model’s requirements.

If the included eject tool is missing, use an appropriate SIM eject tool. The ZTE guides reviewed do not establish a universally safe improvised substitute, so avoid sharp objects and never insert a tool into an opening unless you have confirmed it is the tray’s eject hole. If the tray will not release normally, consult the exact model guide or ask the provider or service support for help.

Check that the SIM is correctly seated and the tray is fully inserted. ZTE’s no signal/network troubleshooting guidance includes removing and reseating the tray. If service still does not work, check that the SIM is enabled in the phone’s settings and confirm with your carrier that service is active and the device or SIM is not subject to a carrier restriction.
