Samsung’s self-repair guides cover only eligible models, and its manuals are published per model. The safe starting point is to read the full model code on your subwoofer’s label, decide whether you mean removing the exterior grille or opening the cabinet, and then follow Samsung’s material for that exact model. For internal access, Samsung’s own warning against removing the cover means a qualified service route is the default.
Find the full model code first
Every answer about opening a Samsung subwoofer depends on the model. The full code printed on the subwoofer’s label identifies which user manual, repair guide, and parts information apply. Partial model names from a soundbar box or a forum post are not enough, because two subwoofers with similar names can have different construction.

Once you have the code, search for it in Samsung’s service download center at https://www.samsungsvc.co.kr/download?code=%EC%98%A4%EB%94%94%EC%98%A4. Samsung’s model pages also host manuals for specific wireless subwoofers. Two examples are the SWA-W700 support page and the SWA-W510 support page. Those pages cover those models only; a manual for one model does not describe another.

Decide what “open” means for your job
The phrase covers two very different tasks, and they carry different risks.

Removing the exterior grille or fabric cover
Readers often want to take off the front fabric to clean dust or to reach a loose speaker surround. Whether that grille detaches at all depends on the model. Samsung has not published a universal grille-removal procedure that applies across subwoofers. Check the manual for your exact model first. If it does not describe grille removal, do not pry, tug, or force the fabric. A grille built for one model can break or tear on another, and a damaged grille is often more expensive to fix than the cleaning job that prompted it.
Opening the cabinet to reach the driver or electronics
Opening the enclosure exposes the driver, wiring, and the amplifier board. That is a repair task, not a cleaning step. Samsung’s user manual warning reads: “TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER (OR BACK).” That document, indexed from a Samsung user manual PDF hosted on Amazon media servers, applies to a soundbar package that includes a subwoofer. Confirm the wording in your own model’s manual before quoting it as that product’s exact text.

- Grille cover for the KRK S12.4 Powered Studio Subwoofer
- Built with precise accuracy it fits perfectly without any extra effort
- Protects the 12” Driver
Unplugging the subwoofer does not make an unknown internal procedure safe. Stored charge in the power supply, exposed mains-side components, and fragile glued panels are all reasons to stop at the warning unless an applicable official guide tells you otherwise.
Compare the two routes
| Route | Part you would access | What to check first | Appropriate next step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exterior grille or fabric cover | Front fabric and surround | Whether your model’s manual describes grille removal; not stated for every model | Follow the manual if it covers the grille; otherwise clean the fabric in place and do not force it |
| Cabinet, driver, or electronics | Inside the enclosure, wiring, amplifier board | Whether Samsung offers a self-repair guide for your exact model and region | Use the official guide if one exists; otherwise contact Samsung support or a qualified service provider |
Do not transfer disassembly steps from one model to another, even when the product lines look similar.

What a teardown guide does and does not prove
iFixit documents a teardown of the Samsung Radiant360 R3 subwoofer, which describes removing the bottom and the outer shell to reach the subwoofer. The guide is a useful picture of one device’s construction, and it is available at iFixit’s Samsung Radiant360 R3 subwoofer replacement guide. It does not establish how a Samsung soundbar subwoofer opens, and it should not be read as general permission.
The guide’s method includes prying the shell with a metal spudger. Do not treat that tool choice as a recommendation. On a plastic enclosure, a metal tool can scratch, crack, or mar the shell, and a pry point that works on one housing can break a clip on another. If you are not following an official guide for your exact model, stop before any prying begins.

Reader discussions and what they can tell you
Community threads show how owners have approached the same question. Two examples are a discussion about opening a Samsung PS-WM20 subwoofer and a thread about removing the fabric grille on a Samsung 950a subwoofer. These are individual experiences, not official instructions, and they may describe a different model or region than yours. Use them to understand which questions owners ask, then check the official manual for the answer.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf you decide to go further
- Record the full model code from the subwoofer’s label.
- Open Samsung’s support page for that model, or search the service download center for the code, and download the manual.
- Read the manual’s section on cleaning, grille care, and service. If it says the cover should not be removed, stop there.
- If Samsung lists a self-repair guide for your model in your region, follow that guide exactly, using only the tools it names.
- If no self-repair guide is listed, contact Samsung support for your model or use a qualified service provider. Do not open the enclosure yourself.
Repair eligibility and service availability can differ by model and by country, so the support page for your exact model and region is the authority for what you may do.

Why a generic opening kit is not the answer
A general-purpose opening tool set cannot tell you where a particular Samsung subwoofer’s clips, screws, or glued seams are, and it does not change the electrical risk inside the cabinet. For a question that depends on the model, the correct tool is the model’s official documentation.
If you are looking for a replacement part, the same rule applies. A driver, grille, or enclosure part must match your exact model code, and Samsung’s support channel is the place to confirm fit.
Every subwoofer is different, so there is no safe universal teardown sequence to publish. The route that works is to match your model, choose the right task, and let Samsung’s official guidance decide what you may open.
