To open a new tab in Chrome on iPhone, open Chrome, tap More, then tap New tab. That path comes from Google’s Chrome Help page for iPhone and iPad. Below are the steps for saving a page as a bookmark and sharing a page or tab, since you’ll probably want those next.
Open a new tab
- Open Chrome on your iPhone.
- Tap More.
- Tap New tab.
Chrome opens its personalized New Tab page. Depending on your settings, it can show a search box and shortcuts. Which shortcuts appear, and how much you can customize, depends on those settings. Google explains the options in its New Tab page customization guide.

Bookmark a page and reopen it
Save the current page
Tap More, then Add to Bookmarks.
Find a saved bookmark
Tap More > Bookmarks and browse the folders. Touch and hold a bookmark to open it in a new tab or an Incognito tab.

You can edit bookmarks and move them between folders. Google says that if you sign in with the same Google Account, bookmarks and other Chrome information can be available across your devices. See Google’s bookmarks guide for iPhone and iPad.

Share a page or tab
Share the page you’re on
Tap Share next to the address bar, then choose an app. To share a link on the page instead, touch and hold the link and select Share.
Share a tab from the tab switcher
- Tap Switch Tabs.
- Touch and hold the tab.
- Choose Share tab.
Send to another device or use a QR code
Choose Send to your devices to push a page to another device. You must be signed in to the same Google Account on both. Chrome can also share a page as a QR code. Details are in Google’s page sharing guide.
