For the West Incursion Zone streetlight puzzle, answer Mila’s payphone call first. Then enter the taxi under the blinking streetlight, then the taxi under the only steady streetlight, then the taxi under the light blinking out of sync with the others. Judge the streetlights, not the cars. The order only applies to the streetlight variety, and the game may give you a different puzzle type at this location on another playthrough.
Step-by-step walkthrough
- Find the taxi. It sits in the lot behind the Empire cinema, near Empire Avenue Station. You need Shift, which you get during The Incursion Fault, to use the gravity-altering ability and reach the parking level. If you can’t spot the cab, follow its horn.
- Enter the taxi. The ride takes Dylan into the Threshold, a fog-covered, looping version of the city.
- Answer Mila. Leave the main road, turn into the side alley and follow the ringing to the green payphone. The taxis won’t activate until the call ends. The guide recommends the dialogue response “Just stay in one place.”
- Read the lights. Go back to the main road and look at the streetlights above the parked taxis. Watch two or three full cycles before choosing, so the odd one out becomes clear.
- Pick the taxis in order.
- Round one: the taxi under the blinking light.
- Round two: the taxi under the only light that stays steadily lit while the others blink.
- Round three: the taxi under the light flashing out of rhythm with the rest.
- Confirm each answer. A correct pick adds a green light to the traffic signal scene. A wrong pick turns the signal red, and you can retry the round without losing progress.
- Finish. After the third correct choice, Dylan leaves the Threshold and the West Incursion Zone taxi is complete. This is the “daylight” moment: the return from the fog. It is not an extra choice in the puzzle.
Common mistakes
- Choosing by the car’s own lights. In this variety the clue is the streetlight above each cab.
- Skipping the call. The taxis do nothing until the payphone conversation ends.
- Deciding after one cycle. A single glance can make a steady light and a slow blinker look alike. Wait for several cycles.
If your puzzle doesn’t match
Puzzle varieties aren’t permanently tied to locations. The West Incursion Zone can show a different variety in another playthrough, and broader walkthroughs say the same about the taxi puzzles in general. Work from the clue you actually see in the current Threshold. If it is the streetlight type, keep the order of blinking, steady, out of sync.
