First check the model name or number printed on the underside of your Logitech mouse. There is no one opening method for every model, and opening a battery cover is different from dismantling the mouse’s outer shell. Use the instructions below only for the model they cover.
Find your Logitech mouse model
Turn the mouse over and look for its model name or number. Match it to the model-specific guidance below before sliding or lifting any cover. Do not assume that another Logitech mouse has the same battery compartment or opening mechanism.

Open the battery compartment on supported models
Logitech M535, M336, and M337
- Slide the battery-compartment cover down.
- Lift the cover off, insert the battery in the orientation shown in the compartment, then replace the cover. Logitech’s instructions for the M535, M336, and M337 describe this procedure.
Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED
- Push down on the grooves and slide the keyplate off to expose the battery cage.
- Install a compatible AA battery in the cage, then slide the keyplate back into place. Logitech documents this battery-access procedure for the G305 LIGHTSPEED.
Logitech M305
Logitech specifies one AA alkaline battery for the M305. Check the model and the compartment’s polarity markings before inserting a replacement; do not assume that this battery guidance applies to a different Logitech mouse. See Logitech’s M305 battery instructions.

Battery access and battery replacement are model-specific. Logitech’s original MX Master support page describes a rechargeable, non-replaceable battery and provides charging guidance; it does not establish the battery design of every later MX Master generation. If you mean opening the mouse shell
The battery-cover steps above do not explain how to dismantle the internal shell. They do not identify screw locations or safe pry points, so do not use them as repair instructions or force the casing open. Find a repair guide for the exact model and intended repair before disassembly.
