1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAndroid Auto’s current navigation instructions do not document a control that automatically selects your next Google Calendar event. The dependable workaround is to make sure the event has a clear destination, then ask Google Maps—or another compatible navigation app—to navigate there by voice. You can also choose a destination on the car display; the vehicle must be in Park if you need to type.
In practice, that means treating the Calendar event as the place to get the destination, rather than expecting Android Auto to choose the event for you. Check its address or venue name before you set off, then give that destination to your navigation app. If a Calendar location happens to appear in Maps or a phone tap hands it to the car, consider that a convenience—not a dependable step in the route.

What Android Auto can—and can’t—do with Calendar events
Android Auto supports voice-guided navigation with Google Maps or a compatible navigation app. Google documents asking for directions or saying “Navigate to [location]”; if the search returns more than one place, confirm the intended destination. Its instructions also describe choosing a destination in the navigation app on the car display, but do not describe a dedicated control for picking the next event from Google Calendar. Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That distinction matters: you can navigate to the address or venue in an event, but you should not count on Android Auto automatically finding the next Calendar event or launching its location when you tap an event on the display. Reports about automatic Calendar locations and phone-to-car handoff vary, and Google’s documented directions do not promise either behavior.

So the practical answer to “How do I use Android Auto to navigate to the location in a calendar event?” is: check the event’s location, then request that location in Maps or another navigation app. Android Auto can handle the navigation request; the documented workflow does not make Calendar-event selection itself part of that process. If your Maps screen does show an event destination, you can use it, but have the address or venue name ready as a fallback.
This is also why a calendar event title is not always a useful navigation query. A title such as “Client meeting” may not identify a place, while the event’s location field may contain a street address or venue name that Maps can search. Start with the location rather than assuming the navigation app can infer the place from the event title.
Prepare the event destination
- Open the upcoming event in Google Calendar. Check its location field—sometimes labeled “Where”—for a complete street address or a recognizable venue name. Make sure you are checking the event you actually intend to attend, especially if your calendar contains multiple upcoming appointments.
- Correct an unclear or missing location. Add the address or venue to the event, then save it. A September 2022 community answer recommended putting the full address in the event’s Where field, but that post is dated guidance rather than a current guarantee of automatic transfer. Read the community discussion
- Keep the destination easy to say or select. An unambiguous venue name or full address gives Maps a clearer search target than a partial location or an event title that does not identify the place.
A complete address is a useful choice when the venue name could refer to more than one place or when you are heading to a specific building or street location. A recognizable venue name can be simpler to say if it clearly identifies the intended destination. Neither format guarantees that Calendar will automatically pass the location into Android Auto; the point is to have a query that you can give to the navigation app directly.

If the event location is blank, abbreviated, or only meaningful to its organizer, resolve that before relying on it for navigation. For instance, an event titled “Workshop” is not a destination, and a vague location may not produce a single clear result. The reliable manual workflow depends on having a place name or address that can be searched. When Maps returns several results, check the match rather than assuming the first one is correct.
Navigate to the event by voice
- Connect Android Auto and open Google Maps, or invoke Android Auto’s microphone. Google documents voice navigation with Maps or a compatible navigation app. The app needs a destination request; it is not necessary to wait for the event to appear automatically.
- Speak the event’s address or recognizable venue name. Use the documented pattern “Navigate to [location].” For example, say “Navigate to 123 Main Street, Springfield” if that is the address in the event. If the location is a venue, say its name clearly enough to distinguish it from similar places.
- Review the result when there is more than one match. Google says to confirm the intended result if multiple places match. Choose the listing that corresponds to the event location before beginning the route; do not treat a similar name as proof that it is the right place.
- Start with a direct request if Calendar is not surfaced. If the event does not appear in the navigation app, speak the location from Calendar instead of repeatedly waiting for an automatic handoff.
Voice entry is the practical choice when you have the address or venue name and want to avoid typing on the car display. Google documents voice navigation and destination search; this is a manual destination request, not an automatic Calendar-event selection. It also avoids the specific Park requirement that applies when typing a destination on the screen, though you should still follow your vehicle’s instructions for using Android Auto controls.
Keep the spoken request focused on the destination. Asking for a street address or clear venue name gives Maps something concrete to search. If the result list contains alternatives, take the extra moment to confirm the right place. The important handoff is from you to the navigation app: Calendar provides the destination information, and Android Auto’s navigation app searches for and routes to it.

Choose a destination on the car display
If you would rather use the screen, open the navigation app in Android Auto and select a destination from its available choices. Google’s documented Google Maps flow includes Recent, Categories and Saved. If you need to type a destination using the car screen, put the vehicle in Park first; Google says typing on the display requires the vehicle to be in Park (P). See Google’s navigation steps
This route is useful if the destination is already available among those choices or if you are parked and can safely enter it. If the event address is not listed, search for or select the address or venue rather than expecting the screen to pull it from Calendar.
The three choices are ways to find a navigation destination, not Calendar controls. Recent may help if you have already used the destination in the navigation app; Categories and Saved offer other ways to choose within Google Maps. Do not assume that a Calendar event will be placed in one of these lists simply because it has a location. If it is not present, use the address or venue name as a search target.
If the destination requires typing, the Park condition is important: Google’s guidance says the vehicle must be in Park (P) to type on the car screen. If you are not parked, use the voice workflow instead of trying to enter text on the display. The choice between voice and screen therefore depends on the situation: voice is hands-free destination entry when you know what to ask for, while display selection can be convenient when the destination is already offered or when the vehicle is parked and you need to enter it.
If Calendar does not appear in Maps
Try speaking the event’s address or venue directly to Maps. Some Android Auto users have also reported that tapping the event location in Calendar on the phone sent it to the car display, but the behavior is not established as a universal, currently documented feature. A March 2024 community discussion includes that workaround alongside reports of inconsistent Calendar support. Read the 2024 community discussion
Reports have differed over time: a December 2022 post described Maps not pulling event locations from Calendar, while the 2024 discussion included a user report of a phone-event-location tap working. These accounts show that the experience can vary; they do not establish that the feature was definitively removed, restored, or supported on every phone and vehicle. 2022 discussion about Calendar locations

If you want to try the reported phone workaround, open the event in Calendar on the phone and tap its location. One user reported that this sent the location to the Android Auto display. Treat that as an optional attempt, not a required step or a guaranteed fix: current official Android Auto navigation directions describe voice and in-app destination selection, not a universal Calendar-to-car transfer. If nothing happens, return to the dependable workflow and ask Maps to navigate to the event address or venue.
It is reasonable for the same general setup to produce different experiences. Community reports from 2022 and 2024 do not establish a single explanation or a rule tied to a particular phone or vehicle. There is no basis here to promise that an update, account change, or particular car model will make automatic event navigation work. Keep the manual destination method available so that a missing Calendar suggestion does not prevent you from entering the destination.
Consider the older Web & App Activity suggestion carefully
The September 2022 community answer suggested that signed-in Calendar and Maps accounts, a full event address, and Web & App Activity enabled could allow event destinations to appear in Maps. Because this is dated community guidance—not a current official compatibility requirement—do not treat that setting as a guaranteed fix. Web & App Activity is an account activity and privacy choice, so review your Google Account controls before changing it. Source of the suggestion

But the post dates to September 2022, and it does not establish that these conditions remain necessary or sufficient today. Do not change an activity or privacy setting solely on the assumption that it will restore a Calendar handoff. The direct address-or-venue search works around the uncertainty without making that setting a prerequisite.
Google Maps or Waze?
Both are navigation options for Android Auto, but neither option should be treated as a documented automatic reader of your next Calendar event. Use the app you prefer and provide the event destination by voice or through its display flow. Google’s Android Auto instructions explain navigation in Maps, while separate official instructions cover using Waze in Android Auto. Google’s Waze instructions
| Option | How to enter the event destination | When it fits | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Maps | Ask by voice, or select a destination in the car-display app. Google lists Recent, Categories and Saved in its display flow. | You know the venue name or address, or the destination is already available in the listed choices. | Typing on the car display requires Park; automatic next-event selection is not documented. |
| Waze | Use voice or display navigation in Waze to enter or select the destination. | You prefer Waze as your Android Auto navigation app. | Google’s Waze instructions do not say that Waze selects Calendar events directly. |
The useful comparison is not which app can read the event, because the official instructions cited here do not describe direct Calendar-event selection for either one. Instead, choose based on the navigation app you prefer and the way you want to provide the destination. If you already know the address or venue, voice entry is a straightforward option. If you want to use the screen, select a destination through that app’s flow; in Google Maps, the documented choices include Recent, Categories and Saved. For typed entry on the car screen, first put the vehicle in Park.

Waze is an official Android Auto navigation option, but its presence does not change the Calendar caveat. Enter or speak the event location rather than expecting Waze to identify the next event. Likewise, Maps may be the more direct choice if you already use its documented Recent, Categories or Saved choices, but none of those options guarantees automatic Calendar integration.
A short troubleshooting checklist
- The destination is missing or unclear in Calendar: edit the event and add its full address or a recognizable venue name, then save it. The event location—not just the title—is what you can request from the navigation app.
- Voice search finds several places: confirm the match that corresponds to the event before starting navigation. Google specifically advises confirming when more than one place matches.
- You cannot type on the car screen: park the vehicle first; Google’s documented display typing flow requires Park (P). If you are not parked, use voice destination entry instead.
- The event does not show up automatically: ask for the event’s destination directly instead. A phone Calendar location tap has worked for some users, but is not a guaranteed handoff.
- You use Waze: open Waze in Android Auto and enter or speak the destination; do not rely on it to identify the next event.
- You are considering changing Web & App Activity: remember that the suggestion came from a September 2022 community answer, not a current official requirement. Review the account controls and privacy implications rather than assuming the change will solve the issue.
- You see a Calendar location in Maps: use it if it is the correct destination, but keep the event’s address or venue available in case the automatic suggestion is absent next time.
These steps separate the parts you can control from the part that is uncertain. You can make the event location clear, choose Maps or Waze, and provide the location by voice or through the display. Whether Calendar itself surfaces that location automatically is not established as a universal behavior in Google’s current navigation directions.
What to expect
The reliable workflow is to put a usable destination in the Calendar event and request that address or venue in Android Auto’s navigation app. Automatic Calendar surfacing and tapping an event location on the phone may work for some users, but available official instructions do not establish either as a universal feature. Use voice when you want to request the location without typing; use the car display when a destination is already selectable or the vehicle is parked for text entry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Android Auto automatically navigate to my next Google Calendar event?
Google’s current Android Auto navigation instructions do not document a dedicated control that selects the next Calendar event. You can ask Maps or another compatible navigation app to navigate to the event’s address or venue instead.

The Bottom Line
Android Auto’s documented navigation workflow does not include a universal “navigate to my next Calendar event” control. Put a clear address or venue in the event, then ask Google Maps or Waze to navigate to it. Voice entry is the straightforward alternative to typing; Google requires the car to be in Park before you type on its display. Automatic Calendar suggestions and phone-to-car location taps are reported by some users, but should remain optional conveniences rather than steps you depend on.
