To move money from Chime into PayPal, link your Chime checking account or debit card in PayPal, then use PayPal’s add-money option. For the reverse transfer, withdraw from PayPal to your linked Chime account or an eligible Chime debit card. Fees and delivery times depend on the route, so check PayPal’s confirmation screen before submitting.

Transfer money from Chime to PayPal

  1. Find your Chime details. In the Chime app, open your Chime Visa Debit Card details to get the card information, or find your checking account’s routing and account numbers. Chime says either method can be used to link the account to a third-party payment app. See Chime’s instructions for third-party payment apps.
  2. Link the card or bank account in PayPal. In PayPal, open Wallet and choose the option to add a bank account or debit card. Enter the Chime debit-card details, or enter the routing and account numbers if PayPal offers manual bank linking. Manual linking does not require an activated physical Chime card. PayPal sends two small test deposits to the Chime account; confirm their amounts in PayPal to finish verification.
  3. Add money in PayPal. After the link is ready, use PayPal’s add-money flow and select the Chime funding source. Review the displayed timing and fee before confirming. Chime says adding money is instant, but PayPal’s general U.S. guidance says bank-account funding can take up to five business days. Eligible debit-card funding is typically available in seconds. The app’s available method and estimate for your account are the practical guide.

Fix common linking or transfer problems

  • Bank account is not verified: Check Chime for PayPal’s two small test deposits, then enter or confirm the amounts in PayPal.
  • Card or account is missing from the transfer choices: PayPal says eligibility varies and displays the accounts or cards available for the selected route. Try another eligible linked method rather than assuming every Chime account supports instant transfer.
  • Transfer is declined or errors: Check that the name and account details match, that the account is not limited, and that the bank or card method is supported. PayPal identifies mismatched details, account limitations, and unsupported methods as common causes.
  • Transfer is late: Provider reviews, clearing, weekends, holidays, and bank processing can delay arrival beyond an estimate. Check the transaction status in PayPal and the receiving account in Chime.
  • You need to review Chime limits: In Chime, go to Profile > Account details > View limits. Chime says member limits are personalized. External-bank ACH transfers from Chime are not subject to the same daily limits as instant transfers, though the other bank may apply its own limits.

Chime does not support Zelle, so it is not an alternate route for this transfer. Chime’s Zelle guidance.
