Check your workplace rules first, verify any named program through the responsible agency, and protect your personal information and money. The sources reviewed do not verify a current government-run romantic matchmaking program; availability and workplace rules depend on the jurisdiction, employer and scheme.
First, distinguish workplace introductions from a formal program
A colleague’s introduction, an employer social event and a dating scheme administered by a government agency are different things. An official story about two people meeting through work is not proof that an agency operates a matchmaking service. For example, a Singapore Police Force profile describes officers who met through duty-related encounters and later reconnected through a colleague; it is a personal account, not a program announcement. That finding is limited to those sources; it does not establish that no such program exists anywhere. A social-media post or a government connection in someone’s personal story is not enough to establish an official scheme.
Check workplace rules before pursuing a colleague
Rules differ between employers and jurisdictions. Before acting on an introduction, consult your staff handbook and relevant conflict-of-interest, relationship disclosure, harassment and reporting-line policies. Pay particular attention if either person supervises, evaluates, assigns work to or controls opportunities for the other.

- Is either person in the other’s reporting or evaluation chain?
- Does policy require disclosure, recusal or reassignment?
- Can both people decline or end contact without pressure or career consequences?
- Where can you seek confidential advice or report a concern?
- What boundaries apply at work and after a breakup?
The U.S. Department of State offers one agency-specific example: its policy bars employees from directly supervising or evaluating someone they are dating and addresses conflicts of interest, favoritism and potential sexual harassment. This is a State Department rule, not a universal rule for government or private-sector workers. See 3 FAM 1510.
A separate U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women condition applies to covered grant recipients and subrecipients, not every employer. It requires them to have, or issue within 270 days of an award date, a policy addressing workplace-related sexual misconduct, domestic violence and dating violence. Read the award condition.

Do not use work contact lists or systems to pursue someone unless your employer permits it and the person has welcomed the contact. If there is a concern, keep relevant messages or records and use the appropriate HR, ethics or reporting channel.

Verify a government-linked program before sharing information
For a named scheme, start at the relevant agency’s official home page or government directory and follow its link to the program. If anything is unclear, contact the agency through details published on its official site rather than relying on a number, link or account supplied in a message.

Read the program’s terms and privacy notice before creating an account. Establish:
- Who operates the service and whether the agency actually sponsors or administers it.
- Who is eligible, where the service operates and whether participation is optional.
- What identity, employment or relationship information it collects, who can access it, why it is used and how long it is kept.
- Whether information is shared with contractors or other organizations, and how to withdraw or complain.
- How introductions, messages, moderation, identity checks and reports are handled.
- Whether there are fees, automatic renewals or cancellation conditions.
A government association alone does not establish that a service is safe, private or suitable for you. Do not send government credentials, employee IDs, sensitive work details or intimate information to a page you have not verified.

Compare the service terms before signing up
Whether you are considering an employer event, a government-sponsored scheme, a private introduction agency or an ordinary dating app, compare the practical safeguards rather than relying on the label.

| Moderation and reporting | Are there identity checks, a monitored messaging channel and a clear way to report suspicious profiles or misconduct? |
| Costs and cancellation | What does each introduction or communication cost? Does the service renew automatically, and how do you cancel? |
| Workplace boundaries | Could participation create a reporting-line conflict, compromise confidentiality or make someone feel pressured? |
| Choice | Is joining genuinely optional, and can you decline or leave without workplace consequences? |
In NSW, Australia, consumer guidance explains that introduction agencies may be free or charge fees for services such as introductions, matches and communications. It advises consumers to identify the business and address, understand the services and costs, and know what introductions are made at what cost. Check renewal, cancellation and price-change terms before subscribing. The UK Competition and Markets Authority’s online dating guidance discusses those issues; because it dates from 2018 and notes later UK consumer-law changes, use current local guidance for legal specifics. Read the CMA guidance.
Recognize romance-scam pressure and protect your accounts
Someone posing as a romantic partner may use trust or emotional attachment to ask for money, gifts or personal details. Pause if a match asks you to keep the relationship secret, share financial information, use your bank account for them, send compromising images, or move quickly away from a service’s monitored messaging channel. Verify claims independently and ask someone you trust for a second opinion.

- Keep early conversations on the service’s messaging channel where possible, and retain correspondence.
- Report suspicious profiles to the service and use local police or consumer-protection routes if you suspect fraud.

Plan an in-person meeting on your own terms
For an initial meeting, choose a public place, arrange your own transport and tell a trusted person where you will be and when you expect to check in. These are practical precautions, not a universal official checklist or proof that a program has vetted its members. Leave if you feel pressured or unsafe.
What older Singapore survey figures can—and cannot—tell you
Singapore’s 2016 Marriage and Parenthood Survey reported that over 70% of singles who were or had been in serious relationships said they met their partner through friends, at school or at the workplace. Among single respondents, 79% were comfortable meeting a partner through colleagues, compared with 86% through friends and 85% through recreational or social activities. The survey interviewed 2,940 never-married and 2,861 married Singapore residents aged 21–45 from August through December 2016. These are historical survey results, not current population estimates, proof that workplace dating is safe or evidence that a government dating program exists. Read the survey findings.
