To measure how many people who watch your 24/7 YouTube stream subscribe, divide subscribers gained attributable to the stream by its unique viewers over the same dates, then multiply by 100. YouTube does not label this ratio as a native metric; calculate it from YouTube Analytics and record the reporting window and source report alongside the result.
Use a person-based conversion rate
Calculated subscriber conversion rate (%) = stream-attributable subscribers gained ÷ unique viewers of that stream × 100.

For example, if a stream gained 12 subscribers and had 600 unique viewers over the same reporting window, the calculated rate is 2%. This is your calculation from reported inputs, not a named YouTube metric or an official benchmark.

Choose the matching YouTube figures
Subscribers gained
YouTube’s Content analytics Subscribers report shows subscribers gained from each content type, including live streams. Use the stream-attributable figure when the report identifies it for the same stream and dates as your audience count. YouTube’s Content analytics documentation describes the available content performance reports.

Unique viewers
Use unique viewers as the denominator when you want to answer, “How many viewers who watch my 24/7 live stream subscribe?” YouTube defines unique viewers as an estimate of individual viewers in the selected date range. It defines views as legitimate plays, so repeat playbacks can affect views without representing additional individual people. See YouTube’s audience analytics documentation.
If you instead divide subscribers gained by views, label the result “subscribers gained per view.” It answers a different question and should not be presented as a person-based conversion rate.

Set a reporting window that works for a continuous stream
- Choose fixed dates and a timezone. Calendar weeks are one workable option; state the timezone so reporting windows can be repeated consistently.
- Get both values for the same stream and window. Record the subscriber numerator and unique-viewer denominator together. Do not combine a stream’s lifetime subscriber total with unique viewers from only one week.
- Calculate the percentage. Divide subscribers gained by unique viewers and multiply by 100. Keep the unrounded inputs so the result can be checked.
- Save the context. Note the dates, timezone, report used, numerator, denominator, and percentage for every period you compare.
- Compare equivalent periods. Use the same window length and reporting source when reviewing changes over time.
Know which YouTube report you are using
Live Control Room provides real-time analytics and a post-stream snapshot. Its post-stream metrics include new subscribers, views, total watch time, peak concurrent viewers, duration, and average view duration. YouTube Studio Analytics provides processed analytics; live-stream reporting is available at video level and can be downloaded as a CSV. YouTube notes that Studio Analytics is processed and despammed and measures different information from Live Control Room data. For details, see YouTube’s live-stream metrics guide.

For a continuous stream, be especially careful about event-level figures versus fixed date-window figures. If the subscriber figure is available only as a full live-event total, do not divide it by a shorter window’s unique viewers. Wait for matching coverage or report the event-level figures separately rather than calling the result a same-period conversion rate.

Interpret the result with care
- Small audiences make percentages volatile. A few additional subscribers can shift the rate substantially when the viewer count is low. YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish a universal minimum sample size.
- There is no official pass mark. The official sources describe analytics metrics but do not publish a general subscriber-conversion benchmark for 24/7 streams.
- Do not mix reporting systems silently. Real-time Live Control Room readings and processed Studio Analytics may differ; name the source report in your tracking notes.
- Keep the metric’s scope visible. A rate is useful only when its stream, dates, timezone, numerator, denominator, and calculation are clear.
