Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallManaging a team video-editing project means coordinating three separate things: the project file, access to the media, and decisions about feedback and approval. Set roles and file conventions first, make sure each editor can reach and link the footage, then choose a collaboration model suited to your editing software and team size.
How do you collaborate on video editing with a team?
Start with a workflow agreement, not a shared folder or app invitation. A project can be shared while its source video, audio, graphics, and other assets remain inaccessible to some collaborators. Adobe explicitly says every Team Projects collaborator needs access to the same media. Plan media access independently of project access, and test it on each editor’s workstation before deadlines are underway.

Assign responsibilities and decision rights
- Project lead or producer: sets scope, deadlines, review rounds, and delivery requirements.
- Editor or editors: assemble and revise assigned sequences or sections.
- Assistant editor or media manager, if needed: maintains the project structure, inventory, originals, and proxies.
- Feedback coordinator: reconciles comments and identifies conflicts rather than forwarding disconnected notes.
- Final approver: has authority to sign off on the master.
One person can hold more than one role on a small project. The important point is to name who owns each decision and handoff. Adobe’s guidance on Productions and Blackmagic’s collaboration tools include locking and separately managed work areas, but software features do not decide who is responsible for a cut.

How do I share video files with remote editors?
Pick a media-transfer or shared-storage method that matches file volume, network conditions, and the team’s access needs. Adobe describes hard drives and cloud media sharing or storage as ways Team Projects users can access the same media. A portable drive can move footage between people, but by itself it does not provide simultaneous shared access.
Test paths and relinking before the edit begins
- Collect and organize the originals and supporting assets. Record the folder structure and identify the owner of each copy.
- Choose how each editor will receive or access those files: for example, a shared storage location, cloud media workflow, or transferred drives.
- Have each editor open the project on their own workstation and confirm that footage, audio, and graphics link correctly. Check across operating systems or differently configured workstations where applicable.
- Resolve missing-file and permission problems before assigning time-sensitive edits. Agree on how changes to media or folder paths will be communicated.
Do not assume that sharing a project file copies the media or grants permission to download it. Adobe’s Team Projects guidance describes the shared-project workflow and makes same-media access a separate requirement: Adobe Team Projects.
Decide whether to use proxies
Proxies can make remote editing more manageable when distributing large camera originals is impractical. Decide who creates them, which collaborators receive them, and how the finishing editor will reconnect the project to the correct originals. In DaVinci Resolve’s cloud-project setup, Blackmagic documents options to sync no media, proxies only, or proxies together with originals. Syncing originals can require substantial storage depending on the number and size of files; estimate capacity from your own media rather than assuming a universal allowance.

Which collaboration model should the team use?
Choose based on the editing application, project scale, desired concurrency, media location, network reliability, and permissions—not on the assumption that every collaboration product solves storage and review in the same way.
| Workflow | Documented collaboration pattern | Useful when | Media consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premiere Team Projects | Adobe describes collaborators editing together in one shared project. A regular Premiere project can be converted to a Team Project; Adobe says the feature is available with Creative Cloud subscriptions, including Individual. | The team wants to collaborate in a shared Premiere project. | Each collaborator still needs access to the same media. |
| Premiere Productions | Adobe positions Productions for larger features, with separate project files and bin locking so contributors can work on different parts with fewer conflicts. | A larger Premiere production benefits from dividing work across project files and managing access to bins. | Plan shared or transferred media access separately from project organization. |
| DaVinci Resolve collaboration | Blackmagic describes simultaneous work in a shared project, including bin and timeline locking, media sync, proxy workflows, and Presentations for feedback. | The team edits in Resolve and wants its shared-project and review features. | Choose whether cloud setup syncs no media, proxies only, or proxies and originals. |
These are documented product capabilities, not a comparative performance test. Use review tools for review, not as a substitute for the project workflow
Adobe documents Frame.io features including share-for-review, timestamped comments and annotations, timeline markers, and access to prior versions. Its Frame.io for Creative Cloud page lists an included service for eligible customers with support for two users, five projects, unlimited reviewers, and 100 GB of dedicated storage; expanded Pro, Team, or Enterprise plans are separately billed. Verify eligibility and limits on the team’s current account before relying on them. Blackmagic describes Resolve Presentations with comments and shared markers. Review tools help gather feedback; they do not replace a decision owner or provide source-media access automatically.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do you make feedback and approval actionable?
- Publish a clearly named version for review, with its date or revision identifier.
- Ask reviewers to comment in the agreed review system and refer to specific timestamps or frames, rather than sending unanchored notes through separate channels.
- Have the feedback coordinator record each request as accepted, deferred, or rejected and resolve conflicting instructions with the relevant decision-maker.
- Set a review deadline and state who can request changes at that stage.
- Record explicit approval from the named approver before exporting or delivering the master.
Adobe documents timestamped comments, annotations that can be brought into Premiere as timeline markers, and access to earlier versions through Frame.io. Blackmagic documents comments and shared markers in Presentations. The team still needs to decide which notes control and who gives final approval.
What should happen at handoff and closeout?
- Identify the authoritative project and the latest approved version.
- Document where originals, proxies, graphics, audio, and exports are stored, and how to relink them.
- List required fonts, plugins, or linked assets and identify who is responsible for any missing dependency.
- State the next owner and action, especially when work moves between editors or departments.
- Retain the approved master and the project files and assets required by your team’s retention policy.
- Keep redundant backups suited to the project’s value and available storage. The cited product documentation describes storage workflows, not a single backup setup suitable for every production.
What should you check before choosing collaboration tools?
- Application and project model: Does everyone use Premiere, Resolve, or a mix? Is a shared project or separately managed work preferable?
- Team size and simultaneous work: How many people need to edit at once, and would bin or timeline locking help avoid collisions?
- Media access: Are originals local, on shared storage, synced, or cloud-hosted? How will remote editors relink files?
- Proxy plan: Who creates and shares proxies, and how will the finishing editor reconnect originals?
- Review and approval: Do reviewers need browser links, frame-specific comments, version history, or a formal approval step?
- Permissions and security: Who can edit, review, download, or invite others? Are client or organizational controls required?
- Capacity and cost: What are the media volume, storage constraints, network limits, and recurring service costs?
Or let it run in the cloud
