The provider shown in each account’s subscription details—not the fact that the services appear together on a bill or in a bundle—determines where to change payment details, change a plan, or cancel. Check both accounts separately; do not assume cancelling one service will cancel the other.
First, identify who bills each service
A bundle can make it unclear which company handles billing, but the available account guidance points to the same first step for both services: inspect the billing information in each account. Record the provider shown for Paramount+ and HBO Max before changing or cancelling anything.

- Paramount+: Sign in and inspect the account or subscription details.
- HBO Max: Open the profile’s Subscription area. On a TV, go to Settings, then Subscription. The screen shows who bills the account.
The Paramount+ support page, dated September 24, 2026, says third-party billing examples include Amazon, Apple, Google Play, and Roku. HBO Max’s guidance cited here is for the US; the provider and steps available to you can vary by country and account.
Change a plan or payment method
If the service bills you directly
Use that service’s account controls. For Paramount+, a subscriber billed directly by Paramount+ can use the account controls for plan changes. If HBO Max bills you directly, its Subscription page offers plan and payment controls.

If another provider bills you
Make the change through the provider shown in the service’s subscription details. For Paramount+, the service says subscribers billed through a third party should contact that provider with billing questions. HBO Max directs subscribers with third-party billing to that provider’s website, help center, or support.
This distinction matters even when you think you signed up through a bundle: a charge or bundle description alone does not establish which company controls a particular subscription. Use the billing provider displayed in each account to choose where to make changes.

Cancel without disrupting the wrong subscription
- Check each service’s billing provider. Use the Paramount+ account or subscription details and the HBO Max Subscription area.
- Start cancellation with the provider shown for that service. If the service bills you directly, use its subscription controls. If another company bills you, follow that company’s cancellation instructions.
- Read the confirmation and note the expiration or renewal date. Keep the confirmation so you can verify which service and billing arrangement changed.
- Check the other service separately. If you also want to cancel it, confirm its billing provider and submit a separate cancellation unless the bundle provider’s terms explicitly explain that one cancellation covers both.
HBO Max says cancellation instructions vary by provider, and deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Removing the app from a device is therefore not a substitute for cancelling through the identified billing provider.

If you see one charge for a supposed bundle
Compare the charge descriptor on your statement with the billing provider displayed in both service accounts. If the provider is unclear, contact the company identified by the account details and ask which service or services the charge covers, where plan and payment changes must be made, and what cancellation will end.

The name of a bundle, by itself, does not establish that the two subscriptions share one billing portal or that cancelling the bundle ends both services. Check the bundle provider’s terms before authorizing cancellation, and confirm the status of each service afterward.

Quick decision guide
- Account says Paramount+ bills you: Use Paramount+ account controls for plan changes; contact Paramount+ for the relevant account issue.
- Account says a third party bills Paramount+: Contact that provider about billing.
- HBO Max Subscription page says HBO Max bills you: Use that page for plan, payment, or cancellation controls.
- HBO Max shows another billing provider: Use that provider’s site, help center, or support, and follow its cancellation process.
- You want to end a bundle: Verify the bundle’s terms and each service’s status; do not infer that one cancellation controls both.
