Gemini’s account activity, Android permissions, and Connected Apps are separate controls. To review or delete saved Gemini activity, open Gemini Apps Activity; to restrict device access such as the microphone, change permissions in Android’s Google app settings. Neither control automatically removes every copy of information already processed or shared.
How to find Gemini Apps Activity
For a personal Google Account, sign in and open Gemini Apps Activity. In the Gemini mobile app, tap your profile menu and select Gemini Apps Activity. On the web, open Menu > Settings & help > Activity. You can also use the Gemini section of Google My Activity. Google’s instructions are in its Gemini Apps Activity help page.

From that Activity surface, review or delete saved entries and change whether future activity is kept. Google describes the setting this way: “When you’re signed in and Keep Activity is on, Google stores your Gemini Apps activity in your Google Account.”

How to change how long Gemini keeps activity
In Gemini Apps Activity, use the auto-delete control near the top of the page. Choose 3 months, 18 months, 36 months, or Don’t auto-delete, then complete the confirmation steps. Google says the web default is to delete activity older than 18 months; menu wording may change as the interface is updated. You can also delete activity manually.

These choices govern activity in your Google Account, not Android’s device permissions or copies another connected service may hold.
What happens when you turn Keep Activity off
Turning Keep Activity off stops future chats from appearing in Gemini Apps Activity and, unless you send feedback, Google says they are not used to train its AI models. It does not mean that chats are never processed or are deleted immediately. Google says future chats are saved for 72 hours so Gemini can respond, process feedback, and protect Google, its users, and the public. Deleting activity also does not necessarily remove every copy. Google says chats already reviewed by service providers may be retained for up to three years, even after activity is deleted. That is a separate retention case from the 72-hour handling of future chats when Keep Activity is off.
How to manage Gemini permissions on Android
When Gemini is serving as the Android device assistant, it is hosted by the Google app. Manage its access to device features through Android’s app-permission controls, not Gemini Apps Activity.
- Long-press the Google app icon.
- Tap App Info, then Permissions.
- Select a permission, such as microphone, camera, contacts, or location.
- Choose Allow or Don’t allow.
Changing a permission controls that device access; it does not itself delete account activity or information already present in a chat. Google’s Privacy Notice, last updated June 29, 2026, says precise location processed with device or browser permission is not stored in Gemini Apps Activity. Location that is stored is coarsened to a general area larger than 3 square kilometers and representing at least 1,000 users. A location can still appear in a chat if included in a prompt or response, and Gemini may receive precise location from another Google service in some contexts. Turning off one permission or account setting is therefore not a guarantee that all location information across Google services is removed.
How to manage Connected Apps
Connected Apps let Gemini work with services for tasks such as email summaries, calendar events, media, calls or messages, and smart-home controls. Availability depends on the app and account. Open Connected Apps settings to connect or disconnect an app; Google’s Connected Apps help page explains the controls.

With Keep Activity off, Connected Apps are unavailable on gemini.google.com, iOS, and watches. On Android, Device assistance, Phone, Messages, and WhatsApp are exceptions. Disconnecting an app does not delete past Gemini activity or erase data the other app already received. Likewise, deleting content in the source app does not remove the corresponding Gemini Apps Activity entry.
If you want Gemini to stop drawing on information from a connected source and remove the related Gemini record, Google advises doing both: delete the relevant chat or chats and disconnect the source app. Changes or deletions in source data may take days to affect Gemini’s experience. Work and school Google Accounts
Personal-account steps may not apply to a work or school account. Google says Workspace administrators control Gemini Apps Activity settings, and users may be unable to change retention or see how long chats are kept. Connected Apps require an eligible Workspace edition and administrator enablement; access can also vary by account, location, language, device, and app. Check with your administrator if the controls are missing.
