How do I turn off game recommendations in Google Play?
- Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Personalization in Play.
- Turn Personalize Play off. To enable personalized recommendations again, return to the same setting and turn it on.
On a computer, Google provides corresponding controls at play.google.com. The labels and screen layout can vary by platform and locale, so look for Personalization in Play in the interface. Google says Play may personalize app and book recommendations, offers, and search results. Recommendations and offers may appear in Google Play and in apps and games available through Play. It can use Play History, Play content such as acquired apps and games, and information in your Google Account.

How do I remove a particular game from Google Play personalization?
If you want to keep personalization on but exclude a particular game or app, use the item-level controls instead of switching off the main setting:

- In the Play Store, tap your profile picture and choose Personalization in Play.
- Open Other Play personalization options.
- Under Your Play content, manage the apps and games you want excluded.
Google says excluding an app prevents associated app activity, purchases, offers, install and uninstall timing, and related Play Games activity and profile data from being used for Play personalization. Changes to Play content personalization may take up to 24 hours to apply.

What happens when I turn off Play personalization?
The main switch limits Google Account data used for Play personalization, but it does not promise a completely untailored Play Store. Google says Play may still tailor the experience using information such as the device, country, and apps installed. Other Google services’ personalization is managed separately in Google Account settings.
Device details also have a separate control in Other Play personalization options. Turning off personalization based on device details does not stop Play from using device information where needed to provide an appropriate browsing experience or show apps and games suited to that device.

How do I reset Google Play recommendations or manage Play History?
Play History is a separate control, not the same as the Personalize Play switch. Google describes Play History as including Play searches, app usage, app detail pages viewed, and offer interactions. In the Personalization in Play area, you can review recent history, delete activity, and choose a retention period.
Deleting history or changing its retention is not the same as excluding a specific app from Your Play content. Turning Play History off may make personalization less relevant, and other Google Account information may still be used for Play personalization if the main setting remains on. Google also notes that Play History data may be used for broader Google product purposes under its privacy policy.

Which Google Play control should I use?

Google’s developer guidance also describes app discovery as using signals such as apps a user previously installed. Google Play Console says, “We may also show personalized recommendations to users.” That guidance concerns recommendation behavior; the consumer settings above are where you control Play personalization and history.

Why are game recommendations still appearing?
- The main personalization switch is off, but recommendations remain: Play can still tailor what you see using device, country, and installed-app information.
- You excluded one game, but other recommendations changed: The exclusion applies to the selected app and associated data, not every source of Play personalization.
- You just changed a content setting: Allow up to 24 hours for Play content personalization changes to take effect.
- You want to change recommendations elsewhere: Personalization settings for other Google services are managed in Google Account settings, not the Play Store’s Personalization in Play screen.
