Then use the gesture for your iPhone model to bring the top of the screen within reach. For typing, use the separate one-handed keyboard option.
Reach the top of the screen with Reachability
Reachability temporarily shifts the upper part of the screen downward, making controls near the top easier to tap while holding your iPhone in portrait orientation. Enable it at Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Reachability, then use the gesture that matches your phone.

Swipe down on the bottom edge of the screen. This brings the top of the display down. Tap the upper half of the screen to return it to its normal position.

If you use VoiceOver
Apple documents a different gesture when VoiceOver is on: swipe up from the bottom with one finger, then, without lifting that finger, swipe down. To restore the full screen, tap the upper half.
Make typing easier with one hand
The one-handed keyboard is a separate option from Reachability: it adjusts the keyboard for easier thumb access, rather than moving general screen content. Apple’s keyboard accessibility guide confirms the option is available, but the activation steps can depend on the current iOS interface. If you need larger keys instead, rotate the iPhone to landscape. Apple notes that this gives a larger keyboard in many apps, though availability depends on the app.

Choose another control if reaching or tapping is the problem
AssistiveTouch for frequently used actions
AssistiveTouch puts a movable onscreen menu at your disposal. It can provide shortcuts for common controls and gestures, and you can customize its menu and single-tap, double-tap, or long-press actions. Set it up at Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch. You can also add it to Accessibility Shortcut and then activate that shortcut by triple-clicking the side button or Home button, depending on your iPhone. Zoom for small or hard-to-see controls
Zoom magnifies the display; it does not bring distant parts of the screen closer to your thumb. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Zoom to choose full-screen or resizable-window magnification. Smart Typing can switch to Window Zoom when the keyboard appears. Magnification may make small items easier to see or select, but it also means less surrounding content fits in view. Consider a grip if you want help holding the phone
A grip or stand changes how you hold the iPhone; it does not replace Reachability or the keyboard’s one-handed option. Apple’s Hikawa Grip & Stand is an example of an adaptive MagSafe-compatible grip that also functions as a stand. Before buying any grip, check compatibility with both your iPhone model and case.
