To make that intention explicit in your project, set chromeEnableAnimations to false in the loki configuration.
Set Loki to disable CSS animations
Add the option to the Loki configuration in your project’s package.json:

}Loki accepts the options available to loki test in its loki configuration object. The corresponding CLI option is --chromeEnableAnimations; its documented default is false. Setting it explicitly records the behavior you want rather than relying on the default. See the Loki documentation on handling flaky tests and the CLI options reference.
What Loki disables—and what it does not
Loki’s documented handling disables CSS transitions and animations, as well as requestAnimationFrame for common web transitions, so the screenshot can capture an end state. It does not reliably make every moving visual static. The Loki documentation lists these limitations:

Animatedlibrary
If a screenshot still changes between runs, first identify how that component animates. The CSS option is not a universal switch for behavior implemented by JavaScript or a native animation system.
Handle animations Loki cannot stop
Render a Loki-specific static variant
For an animation you still want to test in a stable visual state, use Loki’s isLokiRunning() helper in a Storybook decorator or application logic, then render a non-animated version while Loki runs. This keeps the story useful for visual comparison without assuming Loki can freeze the underlying animation library. Follow the pattern in Loki’s Transitions and Animations guidance.

Skip a story that has no meaningful still frame
If the story exists to show motion and a single frame would not provide a useful visual test, use Loki’s story parameter to skip it rather than accepting unpredictable snapshots. The same Loki documentation describes this option.
Why action-level animation waits may not fix snapshots
Waiting for an animation during a click or other action is different from stabilizing the whole page at screenshot time. Cypress documents waitForAnimations and animationDistanceThreshold as controls for action commands; they do not stop an unrelated animation elsewhere on the page from appearing at a different point in a visual snapshot. For snapshots, disable the relevant CSS motion or wait for it to finish using the snapshot tool’s own mechanism. See Cypress’s animation guidance.
