You cannot summon Herobrine in unmodified Minecraft: the character is a community legend, not a built-in mob. A gold-and-Netherrack shrine does not trigger an official spawn. To create a Herobrine-like scene, build a static display with an armor stand; to make a character that moves or behaves like a mob, use a compatible custom entity, add-on, or mod.
Which kind of Herobrine do you want?
| Method | What you get | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Armor stand display | A stationary Herobrine-like figure | Appearance depends on the skins and items your edition supports. It has no Herobrine AI. |
| Bedrock custom entity | A new entity you can spawn | Microsoft’s custom-entity workflow uses behavior and resource packs, plus an entity identifier and a summonable setting. It requires custom content. |
| Java mod, datapack, or commands | A custom visual or behavior, depending on the implementation | Instructions must match your exact Minecraft version and, for mods, the mod loader. Old command examples may no longer work. |
How to make a stationary Herobrine display
An armor stand gives you a simple visual stand-in, not a living mob. Bedrock’s reference lists minecraft:armor_stand as summonable, but it does not provide a complete Herobrine outfit recipe or establish that every platform supports a white-eyed player head.

- Dress it in pale or neutral clothing using the equipment and customization options available in your edition.
- If your platform supports it, use a Herobrine-style player head or texture for the white-eyed look. The exact method depends on the edition and available content.
- For a staged sighting, position the display behind terrain or in fog, then view it from a distance.
This creates an appearance only. It does not add movement, pathfinding, or other mob behavior.
How to make a moving Herobrine-like entity in Bedrock
For a character that can be spawned as an entity, use a compatible custom entity pack or create one with Microsoft’s behavior- and resource-pack workflow. The official tutorial describes entities created through that process; its example does not make Herobrine a built-in Minecraft character.

- Capture the excitement and adventurous play of Minecraft!
- Each 3.25-inch scale Minecraft action figure comes with an accessory to recreate favorite in-game moments!
- Each also includes 1 Redstone Building Piece -- fans can collect the figures and combine all 6 building pieces to build a working TNT Cannon (each sold separately, subject to availability).
- For even more ways to play and display, the pixelated character figures are posable with movable joints!
- The collectible figures make a great toy for video-game players and fans ages 6 years old and up, who will want them all! (Each sold separately, subject to availability.)
- Set up both a behavior pack and a resource pack for the custom entity.
- Give the entity an identifier and configure it as summonable.
- Use the custom entity’s spawn egg or summon command. Microsoft’s tutorial says, “You should be able to spawn your entity in game using the spawn egg or the summon command.” Its example uses
/summon sample:robot; that identifier is for the tutorial’s sample, not Herobrine.
If you install a third-party pack instead of making one, check its publisher’s stated edition and supported game versions before using it. A pack should not be described as vanilla or assumed compatible just because it adds a Herobrine character.
What about Java commands, mods, and datapacks?
Java players can use custom content or commands to create an illusion or custom behavior, but a command copied from an older tutorial may fail on a current release. Java Edition 1.21.5 changed Armor Stand equipment data: ArmorItems, HandItems, and body_armor_item were merged into equipment. That is one reason not to treat legacy command blocks as current instructions.

The surfaced command-block Herobrine build is a legacy example, not a validated recipe for current Minecraft. Choose a mod, datapack, or command guide that explicitly supports your exact Java version and, where relevant, mod loader. Without that match, there is no reliable universal command sequence to give.

Herobrine is a community legend rather than a standard vanilla entity. A shrine made from gold blocks and Netherrack may be part of a player-created story or video, but it does not summon an official Herobrine mob in an unmodified game.
