How to Make an Assamese Christian Sermon Playlist Loop on YouTube Live

Use OBS to loop one sermon recording or a sequence of Assamese Christian sermons, then send the live output to YouTube Studio for preview and broadcast.

To loop Assamese Christian sermon recordings on YouTube Live, make the playlist loop in your streaming software—such as OBS—not in YouTube’s viewer controls. For one recording, use an OBS Media Source with Loop enabled. For several recordings, use an OBS VLC Video source, add the files in order, and enable Loop Playlist. Then send OBS’s output to YouTube Live using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio.

What “loop” means on YouTube Live

YouTube’s Loop control repeats a video or playlist for someone watching on YouTube. It does not make an outgoing live broadcast cycle through sermon recordings. To create a repeating live broadcast, the encoder must play and repeat the files, then send that output to YouTube Live.

Before you set up the stream

  • Confirm live access. Check that the channel is enabled to stream. YouTube says first-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the broadcast is due to start.
  • Check permissions. Make sure the ministry has permission to stream and rebroadcast every sermon recording and any music, images, or other material included in it. Owning or possessing a recording does not by itself establish permission to broadcast all of its contents.
  • Prepare the files. Put the recordings on the computer running OBS and decide their intended order. Keep a local copy of the files available for the broadcast.
  • Install VLC if needed. OBS’s VLC Video source depends on VLC being installed. OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC for this source.

Choose the right OBS source

A playlist while watching YouTube YouTube viewer Loop control This only repeats viewer playback; it does not configure a live broadcast.

Set up and start the live broadcast

  1. Create a scene in OBS. In the Scenes panel, add or select the scene that will provide the broadcast picture and sound. Add the video source appropriate to your playlist: a Media Source for one file, or a VLC Video source for multiple files.
  2. Configure one recording. Open the Media Source properties, select the sermon file, and enable Loop. Confirm that the file plays and its audio is audible in the OBS mixer.
  3. Configure multiple recordings. Open the VLC Video source properties, add the sermon files to the playlist in the desired order, and enable Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off if the sermons must play in sequence; OBS documents it as a separate setting, defaulting to Off. Check that transitions between files do not leave unwanted gaps or abrupt audio changes.
  4. Check the scene. Verify that the picture fits the canvas without unwanted cropping or empty space, and listen to representative sections of the audio. Check levels in the OBS mixer and confirm that the intended source is visible and audible. If the playlist should be ordered, verify the order before going live.
  5. Create or select the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or select the one you intend to use. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to the stream.
  6. Enter the connection details in OBS. Open OBS streaming settings, select the service and server configuration appropriate for YouTube, then enter the stream URL and key. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the encrypted extension of RTMP. Check YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the options available to your channel.
  7. Set encoder output. YouTube documents RTMP/RTMPS video codecs including H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1, and audio codecs including AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS. Use constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube recommends that the interval not exceed four seconds. Match resolution and bitrate to the upload connection and the current YouTube recommendations rather than assuming a setting will suit every connection.
  8. Start and preview. Start streaming from OBS and check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Complete the Go live step there when required for the selected stream. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder ahead of the event and previewing before starting.
  9. Monitor the broadcast. Listen and watch for source failures, missing audio, unexpected playlist order, or stream-health warnings. Test with representative sermon audio and video before the intended broadcast, and keep the computer and its network connection available while using this local OBS method.

Plan for the YouTube archive and viewer controls

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Streams over 12 hours may not be captured, so keep a local recording as a backup if the broadcast could run that long. Decide whether the resulting archive should be public, unlisted, or private.

DVR lets viewers pause and rewind a live stream, then resume from where they paused. Consider whether that viewing behavior suits a repeating sermon broadcast when choosing whether to enable DVR in the stream settings.

Troubleshoot common loop and stream problems

  • The stream ends after one sermon. Check that Loop is enabled on a Media Source, or that Loop Playlist is enabled on the VLC Video source. The YouTube viewer Loop control will not make the encoder repeat files.
  • The VLC Video source is missing. Install VLC and ensure its architecture matches OBS. OBS’s 64-bit version requires 64-bit VLC for this source.
  • The recordings play in the wrong order. Review the VLC Video playlist order and make sure Shuffle Playlist is off.
  • YouTube does not receive the feed. Check that OBS has the correct stream URL and key for the selected stream, and that the encoder is running. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the new key.
  • The preview or stream health indicates a problem. Check the upload connection, encoder output settings, and OBS audio/video sources. Match resolution and bitrate to the available upload connection and consult YouTube’s current encoder guidance.
  • The archive is missing or incomplete. YouTube warns that streams over 12 hours may not be captured. Keep a local recording and plan the broadcast length with that limit in mind.
