Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Give every shot a clear subject, one readable action, deliberate camera and lighting choices, and sound that belongs in the scene. Then use visual references to hold a consistent style, refine one choice at a time, and edit the shots into a sequence. This gives the model fewer creative decisions to fill in on its own—though detailed direction cannot guarantee a particular result.
Why AI videos can feel generic
A prompt that leaves the setting, camera, lighting, wardrobe, action, or sound unspecified gives the model room to invent those elements. The result may be polished but lack a distinctive point of view. OpenAI’s Sora 2 Prompting Guide notes that details such as time, weather, camera angles, cuts, and set design may be filled in when a creator does not specify them.

Specificity helps communicate intent, but a pile of cinematic adjectives is not the same as direction. A coherent shot has a subject, a plausible action, and production details that support the moment. The guidance below is practical direction based on vendor documentation, not proof that any particular prompt will improve audience response.
Build each shot around a clear idea
Choose a detail that makes the video yours
Before writing prompts, decide what should distinguish the video: a point of view, a recurring visual motif, or a story detail worth noticing. Carrying a small number of choices through the piece gives its shots a shared identity without asking every shot to do everything.

Write a shot like a compact storyboard
OpenAI describes a clear prompt as one that sketches a shot like a storyboard. For each shot, specify the framing, subject and distinctive details, setting, one main action, lighting, palette, and the moment the viewer should notice. For example, rather than asking for “a cinematic café scene,” describe a close shot of a rain-speckled window, a barista setting down one chipped blue cup, cool daylight against warm counter lights, and the brief pause before the customer reaches for it. The example illustrates how to make creative choices concrete; it is not a tested formula.
- Framing: Say whether the shot is a close-up, medium shot, or wide view, and describe camera movement only if it matters.
- Subject: Name distinctive visual details that should remain visible.
- Action: Give the subject one plausible, easy-to-read action.
- Look: Set the lighting and a restrained palette that serve the moment.
- Attention: State what should draw the viewer’s eye or mark the beat of the shot.
Keep the action simple and the clips manageable
Trying to fit several unrelated movements, camera changes, and a long speech into one short clip can make the intended action harder to follow. OpenAI recommends concise shots and says shorter clips are generally followed more reliably by Sora 2. Its guide uses stitching two four-second clips in editing instead of generating one eight-second clip as an example—not as a universal duration limit or guarantee.

When a moment has distinct beats, give each beat its own shot and assemble them in the edit. This also gives you room to vary shot scale and pacing without asking one generation to carry the whole sequence.

Maintain continuity across shots
Repeat a few defining character and setting details, and keep the palette and lighting logic consistent where the story calls for it. OpenAI says an image input can anchor character design, wardrobe, set dressing, or aesthetic, while text describes what happens next. If the tool you use accepts references, provide an image when visual continuity matters rather than relying on repeated descriptions alone.

- 【AI Auto Framing for Group Meetings】Automatically detects and frames all attendees, making it ideal for team meetings, boardroom discussions, and hybrid collaboration.
- 【Presenter Tracking for Business Presentations】Smart AI tracking follows the active speaker, perfect for training sessions, client presentations, and interactive meetings.

- 【Clear Audio Across the Table (Up to 5m)】Dual AI noise-canceling microphones reduce background noise and capture voices clearly across the room.
Keep the reference and prompt aligned: a reference can establish appearance, while the text prompt should make the new action and shot clear. A reference supports continuity but does not guarantee that every generated frame will match it exactly.
Direct sound as part of the scene
Specify what the viewer should hear and why. A scene may need room tone, a distant environmental sound, a practical effect tied to an action, a short line of dialogue, or music. Naming the source and timing is more useful than asking for generic “cinematic audio.” For a quiet shot, OpenAI suggests a small sound cue as a pacing detail rather than automatically adding a full soundtrack.

- Listen back and remove generated audio that distracts or does not fit the scene.
Adobe describes generating custom effects from text and using a voice guide to shape timing and intensity in its Firefly video and sound-effects announcement. These are described product capabilities, not a guarantee that generated sound will feel natural. Check current access and terms with Adobe.
Iterate without losing what already works
Once a take is close, preserve its successful elements and change one thing at a time: the lens or framing, a specific action, or the palette, for example. OpenAI characterizes editing as “for nudging, not gambling” and recommends pinning a close result as a reference. Treat each revision as a controlled adjustment; changing several major choices at once makes it harder to tell what helped.

Use the edit to make the sequence feel intentional
Generation is only part of the process. In the timeline, trim repeated or unnecessary action, vary shot scale and rhythm where the story calls for it, balance dialogue with ambience, and remove effects that compete with the scene. Adobe’s Premiere Generative Media Tool documentation, last updated September 9, 2026, describes creating video and sound effects from prompts in the timeline, working with references, and adding editable generated clips for further refinement. That is a documented Premiere capability, not a requirement to use that editor.
Check disclosure requirements when publishing to YouTube
YouTube’s help page says creators must disclose AI-generated or altered content that seems realistic. Its examples include making a real person appear to say or do something they did not, altering footage of a real event or place, generating a realistic scene that did not occur, and creating music that is the main focus of a video. It distinguishes these from examples such as color or lighting adjustments, captions, audio repair, and help with a script or outline. The policy applies to YouTube, not as a universal legal rule. Read YouTube Help’s guidance on disclosing GenAI content and check the live rule when you upload; YouTube says failure to disclose repeatedly may lead to manual labels or penalties.
In a May 27, 2026 announcement, YouTube said labels for photorealistic and meaningfully AI-generated or altered material would appear more prominently: below the player on long-form videos and as an overlay on Shorts. Display details can change, so verify them in YouTube Studio; see the YouTube announcement.

Choose tools by the control your workflow needs
There is no single tool established as best for making videos less generic. Compare tools by whether they accept image or frame references, how much control they give you over shot and style details, whether they support directed dialogue or sound effects, whether you can refine generated assets in an editing timeline, and what their current access, licensing, and export terms allow. Treat vendor descriptions as claims about their own products and confirm current features and terms before choosing.
