To make a wireless keyboard discoverable, switch it on, put it into Bluetooth pairing mode using its model-specific control, then find and select it in the Bluetooth settings of the device you want to use. If the keyboard connects through a USB receiver instead of Bluetooth, it will not appear in a Bluetooth scan.
“Discoverable” means the keyboard is advertising or waiting for a new Bluetooth connection while your computer, phone, or tablet scans for it.

First, check how the keyboard connects
Wireless does not always mean Bluetooth. Check the keyboard’s manual or product listing for Bluetooth wording or a Bluetooth symbol. Some wireless models use a dedicated USB receiver instead. Logitech documents these as separate setup methods: a receiver-based keyboard connects through its compatible dongle, while a Bluetooth keyboard pairs through the host device’s Bluetooth settings. See Logitech’s wireless keyboard setup guide.
- Bluetooth: The keyboard pairs directly through Bluetooth settings; no USB port is needed for the connection.
- USB receiver: Plug the compatible receiver into a USB port. The keyboard may not be Bluetooth-capable, and a Bluetooth pairing key sequence will not make a receiver-only keyboard discoverable.
Put the keyboard into Bluetooth pairing mode
- Turn it on. Check the power switch and battery or charge level. If the keyboard has no power, try fresh batteries or connect its supplied cable if the model supports charging.
- Select the channel you want to pair. On a multi-device keyboard, choose the relevant device channel before starting discovery.
- Use the keyboard’s pairing control. Look for a Pair, Connect, or multi-device channel button, and follow the model’s manual. The control and hold time vary; do not assume one key combination works on every keyboard.
- Check the status light, if present. On the Logitech examples, rapid blinking indicates pairing mode. Other models may signal discovery differently.
For Logitech’s general keyboard setup example, hold the Easy-Switch key for three seconds if the LED is not already blinking rapidly. The K380 instructions likewise say to hold the desired Easy-Switch button for three seconds; rapid blinking indicates discovery mode. These are Logitech-specific examples, not universal instructions.

Find and connect to it on your device
Once the keyboard is in pairing mode, open Bluetooth settings on the computer, phone, or tablet you want to connect. Menu labels can vary by operating-system version; these are routes in Logitech’s support guide:
| Device | Bluetooth route |
|---|---|
| Windows 11 | Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device. Select Bluetooth, then choose the keyboard. |
| macOS | System Settings > Bluetooth. Select the keyboard and connect. |
| ChromeOS | Open the status area, turn on Bluetooth if needed, manage devices, and add a Bluetooth device. |
| Android | Open Settings and Bluetooth, then select the keyboard and follow the prompts. |
| iOS/iPadOS | Open Settings > Bluetooth, then select the keyboard from the available devices. |
If prompted to enter a code, type it on the keyboard and press Enter. The keyboard’s light may stop blinking rapidly or briefly remain steady after pairing, but the indicator behavior depends on the model. For platform-specific vendor examples, see Logitech’s Bluetooth connection guide.

If the keyboard does not appear
- Check its power. Replace depleted batteries or charge the keyboard if supported.
- Re-enter pairing mode. Select the correct channel, then use the manual’s pairing control for long enough to start discovery.
- Confirm the connection type. If it is receiver-only, plug in its compatible USB dongle instead of looking for it in Bluetooth settings.
- Check the host device. Turn on Bluetooth and use its add-device or pairing flow.
- For a keyboard that paired before but will not reconnect: Select its channel and pair it again according to the manual. Pairing and reset instructions are model-specific, so do not try a generic reset sequence.
For example, the Logitech K380 supports pairing with up to three devices. Its instructions distinguish holding a channel button to enter discovery from briefly pressing a paired channel to switch devices.
