Download the Medieval MC [FABRIC] MMC2 server pack that matches your chosen release, run it on Fabric for Minecraft 1.20.1, and allocate at least 5,000 MB of RAM. Confirm the Java version and launch command in the server pack’s own README or start script before the first boot. A one-click host is easier; self-hosting gives you complete control.

What you are building
Medieval MC [FABRIC] MMC2 is a Fabric modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1 from LunaPixelStudios. The word Fabric matters: the server must use the Fabric loader, not Forge or another mod-loader family. The client and server also need compatible pack files. Installing the client pack alone does not create a multiplayer server, and copying a client pack wholesale can introduce client-only mods that stop a dedicated server from starting.

For a dedicated server, use the separately labeled server pack. The CurseForge listing cited for this guide identifies Medieval MC [FABRIC] 1.20.1 v31 as the latest release and lists an MMC2 v31 Server Pack dated November 21, 2025. Treat that version number as part of the installation target: if the listing later shows a newer release, the server and every client should use the same newer version.
Choose self-hosting or one-click hosting
| Route | Setup effort | Control | Cost information | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Self-host on your computer or a rented virtual machine | Manual Fabric installation, file copying, Java checks, firewall and networking work | Full control of mods, configs, backups, JVM flags and world files | No universal figure; electricity, hardware or virtual-machine fees depend on your setup | Administrators who want maximum control or already have a machine online |
| One-click host | The panel installs the pack and loader for you | Managed panel controls, with less low-level access than a self-hosted machine | Plan prices and resource limits vary; check the provider’s current offer | Groups that want to play without maintaining Java, Fabric and networking |
CreeperHost, BisectHosting and Mado Hosting list one-click installation for this pack. Mado Hosting says its installer configures the Fabric loader and Minecraft 1.20.1 automatically. A host removes much of the manual work, but you still need to select the correct MMC2 release and give the instance enough memory.

Requirements before you install
- Correct pack: an MMC2 server pack for Minecraft 1.20.1, not just the client download.
- Fabric: the server loader must be Fabric for 1.20.1.
- Java: the searched listings did not establish a Java version for the MMC2 1.20.1 v31 server pack. Read the included README or start script and install the runtime it specifies. Do not assume that a runtime suitable for another Minecraft version is correct here.
- Memory: CreeperHost’s listing gives a 5,000 MB minimum RAM for this pack. That is a provider-specific published minimum, not a guarantee for every player count or world. Leave additional memory for the operating system when self-hosting.
- CPU: the same CreeperHost listing specifies at least two 4.5 GHz CPU cores. Treat that as a hosting requirement from that provider rather than a universal benchmark.
- Storage: reserve space for the mod files, generated world, logs and backups. World size grows as players explore.
- Network access: a self-hosted server needs a reachable address and a firewall rule for the server port. If your internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; use a host or a tunnel designed for game servers instead.
Download the matching server pack
- Open the Medieval MC [FABRIC] MMC2 project on the distribution site where you obtain the files.
- Open the files or versions list and identify the release you intend to run. Select the entry explicitly labeled Server Pack; for the release identified in the current listing, that is the MMC2 v31 Server Pack.
- Do not simply download the newest file without checking its version. CurseForge has separate file pages for versions such as v30 and v7, so a server pack from one version paired with a client from another can produce loader, mod-list or world errors.
- Download the archive and keep the original file until the server has started successfully. If the archive contains a README or start script, read it before changing files; it is the authoritative source for that release’s Java requirement and launch procedure.
Set up a self-hosted server
The following workflow reflects the normal Fabric server sequence. File names and included scripts can differ between pack releases, so follow the v31 pack’s own README wherever it gives a more specific instruction.
1. Create a clean server directory
Make a new directory dedicated to this instance, such as medieval-mmc2-server. Avoid placing it inside an existing vanilla or differently modded server directory. A clean directory prevents old mods, configs and libraries from being mistaken for part of MMC2.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
2. Install the Fabric server for Minecraft 1.20.1
Use the Fabric installer or the server files supplied by the pack, selecting Minecraft 1.20.1. The loader version must be the one expected by the server pack. If the README includes a complete launcher or start script, use that instead of downloading a different loader version by guesswork.
Before continuing, verify that the Java executable you will use is the version named by the pack documentation. If several Java installations are present, make the start script call the intended one explicitly or select it in your hosting panel.

3. Extract the server pack
Extract the archive into the new server directory. Do not nest the files in an extra directory accidentally; the directory from which you start the server should contain the launcher and the pack’s folders at the levels shown in its README.
4. Copy the pack’s server files
At minimum, the supplied workflow calls for copying the pack’s mods and config directories into the server directory. If the archive includes additional directories or scripts and the README tells you to copy them, preserve those as well. Replace files only in this clean MMC2 directory, not in an unrelated instance.
5. Accept the Minecraft EULA
Start the server once using the supplied script or command. It will normally create an eula.txt file and stop. Read the EULA, then change the file’s setting to eula=true only if you agree to it. Never download an eula.txt from another server, because that can hide a path or version mistake.
6. Set the memory limit
Configure the Java maximum heap (-Xmx) to at least 5,000 MB, matching the published CreeperHost minimum. A practical template is shown below; substitute the exact launcher filename and any flags required by the pack’s README:

The angle-bracketed name is a template, not a literal filename. If the pack supplies a start script, editing its memory variables is safer than inventing a new command. Do not allocate all physical RAM to Java; the operating system and file cache also need headroom.
7. Start the server and wait for the first world generation
Run the included start script or the exact command documented by the pack. The first launch can take longer while Fabric loads mods and Minecraft generates data. Keep the console open until it reports that the server is ready for connections. Stop it with the console’s normal stop command rather than closing the window, then start it again to confirm that the world and configuration persist.
8. Check the log before inviting players
Open logs/latest.log after a successful boot. Look for the Minecraft version, Fabric loader initialization and the absence of fatal stack traces. A clean startup log is more useful than assuming that a window remaining open means every mod loaded correctly.
9. Make the server reachable
Players on the same home network can usually connect with the host computer’s local address. Players elsewhere need the public address and a firewall or router rule that forwards the server port configured in server.properties. The port is commonly the default Minecraft port unless you changed it; tell players the exact port whenever it is not the default. Never publish your public address widely if you do not understand the security implications, and keep the operating system and Java installation updated.

Use a one-click hosting panel
Pick the exact MMC2 release
Search the host’s modpack installer for Medieval MC [FABRIC] MMC2 and select the Minecraft 1.20.1 release that matches your players. If the panel offers both client and server entries, choose the server entry. Do not let an installer silently select a different major pack version.
Confirm resources before deployment
Check the plan’s assigned memory against the 5,000 MB minimum published by CreeperHost. A plan that technically starts but has less memory than the pack’s published minimum is likely to crash during loading or world generation. Also check CPU allocation, storage, automatic backups and whether you can edit configs and upload files.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Install and verify
- Run the panel’s one-click installation.
- Wait for the Fabric loader and Minecraft 1.20.1 files to finish downloading.
- Open the file manager and confirm that the server pack,
modsandconfigdirectories are present. - Start the instance and read the live console until it reports readiness.
- Review the panel’s equivalent of
latest.logbefore sharing the address.
One-click installation reduces setup work; it does not remove version discipline. Keep a note of the installed pack version and use that same version in every client launcher.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Install the client pack
Each player needs the client-side Medieval MC [FABRIC] MMC2 pack for the same Minecraft and pack version as the server. GDLauncher offers a one-click installation of the CurseForge pack, which can simplify client setup. After installation, open the instance details and confirm that it says Fabric and Minecraft 1.20.1 before launching.
Best Value
Do not copy a server directory into a client launcher unless the pack documentation explicitly instructs you to. Conversely, do not upload a client-only mod to the dedicated server. When a client reports an incompatible mod list, compare the two pack versions first, then compare loader versions and only afterward investigate individual mods.
Connect and perform a controlled first test
- Start the server and wait for its ready message.
- Launch the matching MMC2 client instance.
- Choose Multiplayer, add the server’s local or public address and include a non-default port in the form
address:port. - Join with one test player before opening the server to the whole group.
- Walk, open inventories and interact with a few blocks to confirm that the server is not timing out under normal activity.
If the test works locally but not for remote players, the pack is probably loading correctly; investigate the address, router forwarding and firewall rather than reinstalling every mod.

The server stops immediately and creates eula.txt |
The EULA has not been accepted | Read the EULA, set eula=true if you agree, and start again. |
| Out-of-memory error, freezes during loading or a crash after several players join | Heap or host memory is too low | Check the console and logs/latest.log. Ensure the instance has at least 5,000 MB available, raise -Xmx only when the machine has spare RAM, and verify that the host is not enforcing a lower limit. |
Mixin errors or ClassNotFoundException |
Loader, pack or mod versions do not match | Redownload the exact server pack release, use its stated Fabric loader and restore the supplied mods and config directories. Do not mix files from v31, v30 and v7. |
| Java refuses to start or reports an unsupported class version | The installed runtime does not match the pack | Read the pack README or start script for its required Java version, install that runtime and make the launcher use it explicitly. |
| The server starts, but a client sees an incompatible mod list | The client has a different pack release, loader or mod set | Install the same MMC2 version and Minecraft 1.20.1 profile on the client. Remove extra client or server files only after comparing both manifests. |
| Local players connect but remote players cannot | Firewall, router forwarding, carrier-grade NAT or an incorrect address | Check the server port in server.properties, allow it through the host firewall, forward it to the correct local machine and give remote players the public address. If your ISP uses carrier-grade NAT, use a suitable host or tunnel. |
| A world fails after changing pack versions | Mods or world data were upgraded without a rollback plan | Stop the server, restore the pre-upgrade world and configuration backup, then test the new release in a separate directory before switching the live instance. |
Backups, updates and routine administration
Back up before every change
Stop the server cleanly, then copy the world directory and the pack’s configuration files to storage outside the live directory. Keep several dated backups rather than overwriting one copy. A backup made while the server is writing region files can be incomplete, so use the console’s normal stop command first.
Update server and clients as one unit
When a new MMC2 release appears, download its matching server pack and have players install the same client release. Test the new files with a copy of the world or a fresh test world. Never assume that a newer file on the download page is a drop-in replacement for an older server.
Read logs after maintenance
After changing Java, memory, loader files or configs, inspect logs/latest.log from the first boot. Save a copy when reporting a crash; the first fatal error is usually more useful than the final shutdown message.
Quick Recap
Final pre-launch checklist
- The server directory contains the MMC2 server pack, not only the client archive.
- Minecraft and Fabric are both set to 1.20.1, with the loader and Java version specified by the pack documentation.
- The instance has at least 5,000 MB available RAM, with operating-system headroom.
- The server and every client use the same MMC2 release.
eula=trueis set only after reading and accepting the EULA.- The first boot reaches the ready message without fatal errors in
latest.log. - Backups exist before players create valuable builds.
- The firewall, router and address have been tested by at least one player outside the host machine.
