To make a 24/7 YouTube radio playlist switch tracks smoothly, set up gapless playback or crossfades in the software that plays and queues the audio, then send that continuous output to a YouTube encoder. YouTube’s Live Control Room handles the incoming live stream; it does not create song transitions. Keep the encoder running across track boundaries, and test real transitions before relying on the stream unattended.
How the playback and YouTube parts fit together
There are two separate jobs: the playback or automation layer advances the playlist and applies the transition, while an encoder converts and sends the resulting output to YouTube. YouTube describes an encoder as software or standalone hardware used to convert and send a stream. Its setup guidance covers connecting an encoder with a stream URL and stream key, not editing playlist transitions. YouTube’s encoder setup guide

For a continuous radio feed, plan track handoffs inside the playback output. Do not stop and restart the encoder for each song; a continuously running encoder avoids turning every track change into a broadcast reconnection.
Prepare the playlist for clean transitions
Inspect track boundaries
- Listen to the beginning and end of each file for built-in silence, long fades, abrupt edits, or audio that starts late.
- Pay particular attention to pairs with different loudness or different amounts of silence. Those are more likely to sound like a pause or a sudden jump.
- If the player offers gapless playback or crossfade, enable the option you want and test a short transition first. The right setting depends on the tracks and the software; YouTube does not prescribe a crossfade style or duration.
Choose gapless playback or a crossfade
Gapless playback moves directly from one track to the next without adding a transition overlap. Crossfade overlaps the outgoing and incoming tracks for a smoother handoff, which may suit continuous music but can blur songs whose endings or beginnings are intended to stand alone. Choose by listening to representative pairs, not by assuming one method works for every playlist.
#1 Best Overall
- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
Build a continuous YouTube radio feed
- Configure playlist playback. Use a playback or automation system that can run through a queue or loop and produce one continuous audio output. Set the desired gapless or crossfade behavior there.
- Select an encoder path. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders. Its verified encoder directory lists OBS as free, open-source streaming software, and lists Gyre and Upstream as cloud services for 24/7 streaming. These directory entries are examples, not endorsements or confirmation of a particular crossfade feature. Check each provider’s current capabilities, costs, and transition support before choosing.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube. In YouTube’s live setup, copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder, then start sending the stream from the encoder. Keep playback and the encoder running through song boundaries. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream. YouTube’s setup instructions
- Choose compatible encoder settings. YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion; H.264, HEVC, or AV1 video; and AAC or MP3 audio. For stereo, it recommends a 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps audio. It recommends constant-bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, with a maximum of four seconds. These are ingestion and stream-quality settings, not song-transition controls. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension of RTMP, and says it transcodes incoming streams for different devices and network conditions. YouTube encoder settings
- Set quality to match the connection. Choose settings appropriate to your upload connection, run an upload-speed test, and test the actual stream rather than relying on the theoretical connection speed. A higher bitrate or different protocol cannot remove silence already present between playlist items or apply a crossfade.
Test transitions and stream health before going unattended
- Run an unlisted test stream. YouTube advises testing with audio and motion representative of the real stream. Use the same playlist behavior and encoder settings planned for the live broadcast. YouTube encoder settings
- Listen to several consecutive handoffs. Include track pairs with different loudness, fades, and silence at the file boundaries. Check for gaps, clipped beginnings, unexpected overlap, abrupt level changes, and silence caused by the player.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Watch for YouTube warnings or errors and confirm the incoming audio remains present across transitions. YouTube recommends continuous quality monitoring. YouTube encoder settings
- Verify the viewer experience. Confirm the watch page is accessible and check playback on both a desktop and a phone. If you use a backup encoder, test failover rather than assuming it will take over correctly. YouTube live streaming tips
- Choose latency for the broadcast. Lower latency can increase playback buffering. For a radio stream without live interaction, lower latency may matter less; it does not make song boundaries smoother. YouTube latency guidance
Plan for long-running streams
YouTube’s setup page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It does not give a recommendation there for how to divide a 24/7 stream. Check your channel’s current live-stream behavior and decide whether one stream event or scheduled and repeated events better fit your archive and programming needs. YouTube’s encoder setup guide

If you would rather not keep a playback computer and connection running at home, StreamNeo runs prerecorded videos as a continuous YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload your recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The service loops uploaded videos; it does not stream from a camera. Set up song transitions in your files or playlist before uploading, since YouTube’s encoder settings do not create crossfades.
