Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallYou can loop a rain video in OBS and send it to YouTube Live, but a single OBS session and YouTube event should not be treated as guaranteed to run forever. Prepare a video and audio track you have rights to use, enable looping in OBS, test the encoder and upload connection, and plan shorter broadcasts if you need reliable replays. YouTube warns that a stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Before you set up the stream
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days; streamers must also be at least 16. Eligibility and platform rules can change, so check your channel’s current status in Live Control Room before preparing a long broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips and live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Use rain footage and sound you are allowed to stream
Use your own rain recording, or footage and audio with a licence that covers the intended live use. YouTube’s livestream terms require providers to have the necessary rights for live content worldwide and to comply with applicable laws and regulations. Attribution by itself does not grant permission. The available guidance does not establish India-specific licensing requirements for this use, so do not assume a particular Indian legal conclusion from it. Read YouTube’s livestream terms.
Build a looping rain scene in OBS
1. Set up OBS and your canvas
- Install and open OBS Studio, then run Tools > Auto-Configuration Wizard. Use its recommended starting configuration and test the result on the computer and connection you will actually use. OBS notes that resolution and frame rate affect both output and system load; 60 fps can be more demanding than 30 fps. Its Quick Start Guide covers the initial setup.
- In the Scenes panel, click + and create a scene, for example Monsoon Rain.
- In Sources, click + and select Media Source. Give it a clear name such as Rain loop.
2. Add and loop your media
- In the Media Source properties, enable Local File and browse to your rain video. If you are using a separate audio recording, add it as another media source or arrange the audio in your video before importing.
- Turn on Loop. OBS documents this option as off by default, so do not assume the file will repeat unless you enable it. The official Media Sources guide describes the property.
- Right-click the source in the preview and choose Transform > Fit to Screen to fit it to the canvas. If the framing is wrong, adjust the source or crop it to match your chosen canvas rather than stretching it out of proportion.
- Watch and listen through a complete loop before streaming. Confirm that the picture returns cleanly to the beginning and that rain audio is audible in the OBS mixer without clipping or an unwanted gap. A local test recording is a useful way to check the result.
For a playlist rather than one file, OBS also offers a VLC Video source; use its playlist-loop option and test transitions between items. See the OBS media-source documentation.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select an encoder stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in its stream settings. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain this workflow.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Choose YouTube as the service and enter the stream key, or use the available account connection workflow. If entering details manually, use the URL and key from YouTube’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your channel.
- Set your YouTube event’s title, visibility, and other details in Live Control Room. Review latency, DVR, and auto-start/auto-stop settings there; lower latency is not necessary for non-interactive ambience and may increase buffering. YouTube describes these options in its live stream settings guide.
- Start OBS streaming and check the Live Control Room preview and health indicators before making the event public. Do a short private or unlisted test first, and confirm that video and audio reach YouTube as expected. OBS also recommends testing settings and a short stream or recording in its Quick Start Guide.
Choose stream settings your connection can sustain
There is no single bitrate that is safe for every Indian home connection. Begin with OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard, then test during conditions similar to your intended broadcast. OBS says a good starting point is to set bitrate to 75% of total upload speed; treat that as troubleshooting guidance, not a guarantee or a YouTube-specific maximum. Leave headroom for upload variation, and reduce the bitrate if OBS reports dropped frames. OBS also recommends wired networking because Wi-Fi can be unstable. See its connection troubleshooting guidance.
Choose resolution and frame rate based on the source material, available upload, and the computer’s ability to encode steadily. A static or slowly moving rain scene does not automatically benefit from the highest frame rate or resolution if those settings make the encoder or connection unreliable. Confirm performance in a test before committing to a public session.

Plan around YouTube’s archive and DVR limits
Will YouTube save a 24-hour live stream?
Do not rely on it. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but if a stream exceeds 12 hours it may not be captured at all. A single 24-hour event is therefore not a dependable way to preserve a full replay. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup; monitor that the local recording file is being created and growing if you enable recording. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

If preserving each broadcast matters, schedule shorter sessions rather than leaving one event open for a full day. This takes more operator attention to restart and may interrupt the continuous live experience, but it avoids treating a potentially uncaptured over-12-hour stream as your archive plan. YouTube also says DVR, which lets viewers pause or rewind, may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Check the event’s settings and intended viewer experience in YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Keep the stream running and troubleshoot interruptions
OBS on a home computer depends on the computer, power, network, and OBS process continuing to work; no single setting or device guarantees uninterrupted 24/7 availability. For an at-home setup, use this fault-oriented checklist when the stream drops or becomes unstable:
- Dropped frames or unstable output: Lower video bitrate until the upload connection can sustain it. OBS’s 75% starting point is only a guideline; real capacity can vary.
- Wi-Fi interruptions: If practical, connect the computer to the router by Ethernet. OBS recommends wired networking, but it cannot prevent ISP or upstream outages.
- Connection still failing: Check the router and modem, cable and network-card connections, VPN or security software, and network-optimization software. Congestion at the ISP or issues outside OBS may require help from your provider.
- Video reaches OBS but not YouTube: Check the Live Control Room preview and stream status, verify that OBS is using the current stream URL and key, and confirm the event is selected and ready to receive the encoder feed.
- Rain video stops at the end: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled; test the full loop locally before going live.
- Replay is missing or incomplete: Check whether the broadcast exceeded 12 hours and whether a local recording backup exists. A local backup is not the same as YouTube’s public archive.
For longer sessions, OBS’s network troubleshooting page notes that some causes are outside OBS’s control; if checks do not resolve the issue, contact your ISP. YouTube’s live tips also recommend preparing the encoder in advance, checking the preview, monitoring quality, and verifying a local archive where used.
