This makes OBS restart the playlist after its final file, but it does not guarantee a seamless transition at every file boundary. First identify whether the black frame appears between playlist items or during a scene change; those are different problems.
Set up a repeating lecture playlist in OBS
- In your OBS scene, click the add-source button and choose VLC Video. Give the source a name if prompted.
- Open the source properties and add your lecture recordings to its playlist.
- Keep Loop Playlist enabled so the sequence starts again after the last file. OBS documents this option as On by default.
- Keep Shuffle Playlist off if the lectures need to play in order. OBS documents this option as Off by default.
- Check Visibility Behaviour. Choose whether playback should continue, pause, or stop when the source is hidden. The documented default is Stop when not visible, restart when visible.
VLC Video depends on VLC being installed. If the source is missing from OBS, install VLC; for 64-bit OBS, OBS specifies 64-bit VLC.

Does Loop Playlist remove the black screen?
It is the closest documented setting to try when the blank frame appears between two files in the same playlist. OBS says Loop Playlist restarts the source after it runs out of media files. Its documentation does not promise gap-free handoffs between every pair of files. An OBS forum user reported that enabling the setting stopped a blink in their setup, but that report is not a guarantee for other files or systems.
If a brief blank still appears between lectures, the available documentation does not establish a single cause or universal fix. It does not determine whether a particular gap comes from encoding, the end frames of the files, or system performance. Confirm that the playlist contains the intended files and that the source is playing the sequence you expect, but do not assume Loop Playlist guarantees seamless playback.

If the black frame appears during a scene change
A black frame while fading or switching scenes is not necessarily a playlist handoff. Inspect the source’s visibility and activation behavior. In one OBS forum discussion about a black frame during a scene fade, a respondent suggested that restarting playback when a source becomes active could leave it black until playback begins, and proposed turning that behavior off for the source being transitioned to. Treat this as a troubleshooting hypothesis for that scene-transition case, not a general explanation for gaps between playlist files.

Use VLC Video for an ordered series of lectures. Use Media Source when you need to loop one file; its per-file controls are not a substitute for a playlist.
