You can loop a YouTube video for viewers with YouTube’s player controls. To present prerecorded content as a YouTube live broadcast, you need an encoder sending a feed to YouTube with YouTube’s own stream URL and key. Muvi Live has a separate RTMP workflow for sending an encoder feed to Muvi; its documented setup does not establish a direct Muvi-to-YouTube route for looping prerecorded video.
First decide what “loop” means

Keep the destination and credentials separate: YouTube’s stream key is for YouTube ingest; Muvi’s stream key is for Muvi Live.
Loop a YouTube video or playlist for viewers
- Open the video on YouTube.
- Right-click the video player and select Loop. YouTube describes the result as: “The video will repeat continuously.” (YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists.)
- To repeat a playlist, open the playlist and turn on its Loop control. YouTube also documents Repeat controls for televisions and game consoles.
This repeats playback in the viewer’s player. It does not turn an upload into a scheduled or continuous live event.
Send prerecorded content to YouTube as a live stream
YouTube’s encoder workflow explains how to send a live feed to YouTube. As YouTube Help puts it, “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube” (Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder). The guide establishes the ingest setup, but not a specific file-loop setting; that part depends on the encoder and source workflow you choose.

1. Check that the channel can go live
YouTube’s current live-streaming guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and says streamers must be at least 16 years old. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the current requirements in YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming before planning a launch.
2. Create or schedule the YouTube stream
In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream, then retrieve its YouTube stream URL and stream key. The key is the encoder’s connection credential—YouTube says to treat it like a password. Keep it private and use YouTube’s own credentials for this destination. See Manage live stream settings and the encoder setup guide.

3. Configure an encoder and the video source
In your encoder, select the prerecorded source and configure it to send to YouTube using the YouTube server URL and key. The source must produce a feed for the encoder to transmit. If you need that file to repeat, verify that your chosen encoder or playback setup supports looping; YouTube’s cited encoder instructions do not prescribe a universal file-loop control.
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance for the output you plan to send. Those recommendations depend on resolution and frame rate; do not assume that any setting works for every source or connection.

4. Preview before going live
Start the encoder and inspect the preview and stream health in YouTube’s Live Control Room before relying on the broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the stream. Allow time to correct connection, source, or encoding problems before promoting a scheduled start.
5. Plan for broadcasts longer than 12 hours
YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours, and streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured as an archive. If retaining a recording matters, make a local archive backup rather than relying on YouTube to preserve the complete broadcast. See Turn on DVR on live streams and Archive live streams.

Where Muvi Live fits—and where the documented workflow stops
Muvi’s instructions describe an RTMP encoder workflow for a Muvi Live destination. They say to create a Muvi Live item, choose Encoder or Streaming Software – RTMP, copy the Muvi stream URL and key from Stream Info, configure the encoder, start the Muvi stream, and then start the encoder. Muvi then provides sharing options such as a shareable link, HLS URL, or embed code. Follow Muvi’s steps in its RTMP encoder guide.
That is not the same as sending to YouTube. The Muvi credentials are for Muvi’s workflow, and the documented instructions do not verify a direct Muvi Live route that loops prerecorded video to YouTube. If your required destination is YouTube, configure the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and key. Muvi’s product materials describe live streaming and pre-scheduled on-demand content, but do not change that credential distinction (Muvi live streaming platform; How Muvi Live works).

Common problems and what to check
- The video repeats but viewers do not see a live event: You used YouTube’s player Loop control. That affects playback for the viewer; use an encoder workflow to broadcast a feed.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that the encoder has YouTube’s current stream URL and key, rather than Muvi’s, and that the stream is active in YouTube Studio.
- The stream is unavailable at the planned start: Confirm channel verification and eligibility, and account for the possible 24-hour first-time activation period.
- The prerecorded source stops instead of repeating: Check the file playback or encoder source’s loop behavior. YouTube’s encoder guide does not provide a universal file-loop setting.
- The encoder preview or stream health is poor: Test the source and connection, compare encoder output with YouTube’s current settings guidance, and monitor the Live Control Room.
- Viewers cannot rewind the whole long broadcast or the archive is incomplete: YouTube’s DVR and archive behavior may be limited beyond 12 hours. Keep a local recording if a complete copy is important.
