To loop Gurbani shabads in OBS, prepare recordings and visuals you have permission to use, add them to an OBS scene as media, set the media to repeat using the control in your installed OBS version, then connect OBS to YouTube Live with the server URL and stream key. For a genuine 24/7 broadcast, the computer, OBS and internet connection must remain available; YouTube can also interrupt a stream over detected third-party content.

Clear the exact recordings and visuals
Check that you have permission for each recording and performance, as well as any image or video used on screen. Gurbani subject matter does not by itself make a recording free to reuse. Rights may apply to the sound recording and to the underlying performance or composition, and the applicable rules can depend on the material and jurisdiction.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A detected match can replace the picture, interrupt the stream or terminate it. If you have a license, ask the rights owner whether they need to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist; YouTube notes that licensed content can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. Prepare a stable program
Choose the shabad audio and a visual that can remain on screen, such as a still image or simple title card. Check the files before going live and organize them in a dedicated folder so OBS can find them again after a restart. If the visual changes between recordings, confirm that each media item displays as intended in the scene preview.

Set up a looping source in OBS
OBS is the encoder: it sends your prepared program to YouTube Live. The exact Media Source loop control and playback labels depend on the OBS build, so use the controls shown in your installed version rather than relying on a guessed menu path. OBS’s official help portal links to its Quick Start Guide and streaming documentation at obsproject.com/help.
- Create a scene: In OBS, add a scene for the Gurbani stream. Add the prepared visual and audio/media source to that scene.
- Set repetition: Open the media source’s properties and enable its repeat or loop behavior using the option available in your installed OBS version. The source must repeat after it reaches the end if you want uninterrupted playback of that item.
- Check the preview and sound: Play the source in OBS. Confirm the visual is framed correctly and that audio registers on the OBS audio meters. Listen for silence, clipping, abrupt transitions or an unintended gap before using the scene on air.
- Test the full cycle: Let the source reach its end and verify that it starts again. If you use a playlist or multiple items, check the transitions and ensure every item is included in the intended order.
If the loop option is not where expected, check the documentation or controls for your installed OBS release. The current exact UI labels are not established here, so do not assume an instruction for another version matches your screen.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Enable live streaming in advance: First-time YouTube live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so complete this before the intended broadcast.
- Create or select a live stream in YouTube Studio: Open the stream setup and choose the encoder connection flow. YouTube’s setup instructions are at YouTube Help: stream with an encoder.
- Copy the server URL and stream key: Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in OBS’s streaming connection settings. Treat the key as a password: do not show it on screen, share it, or include it in a recording or public post.
- Start sending from OBS: Start the stream output in OBS, then follow the YouTube Live Control Room flow to make the broadcast live and watch its stream-health indicators.
- Confirm the broadcast: Check the public viewing page from a separate device or browser session. Confirm that sound and picture are present and that the stream is still advancing.
What 24/7 operation requires
YouTube supports both scheduled broadcasts and continuous streams. With the local OBS method, the computer running OBS and its internet connection have to stay available. Power interruptions, a restart, an OBS crash or a lost connection can stop the encoder feed; plan who will monitor it and how it will be restarted. Continuous operation is a practical setup goal, not a guarantee that a home computer or network will never fail.
Plan recordings separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a single uninterrupted broadcast longer than 12 hours will be fully archived. If keeping a complete copy matters, plan separate recordings or another archive workflow rather than relying on the live-stream archive alone. See YouTube Help on live-stream archives.

Troubleshoot common failures
- The source stops instead of repeating: Check the media source’s repeat/loop control in the installed OBS version, then test by letting the item reach its end before going live.
- OBS preview has picture but no sound: Check the source’s audio routing and OBS meters, verify the file has an audible track, and listen through the monitoring setup before starting the broadcast.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Verify that OBS is using the correct YouTube server URL and current stream key, and check that live streaming is enabled for the channel. If this is a first-time setup, allow up to 24 hours for enablement.
- The broadcast is interrupted or its picture changes: Review YouTube’s copyright notifications and the matched material. Obtain permission for the precise content and, where applicable, ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel in Content ID.
- The broadcast stops during an intended 24/7 run: Check the computer’s power and sleep settings, OBS status and internet connection. Restore the encoder feed and verify the stream again in Live Control Room; local OBS operation depends on those systems remaining available.
