What YouTube allows
YouTube’s current guidance sets two simultaneous-stream limits: 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. Both limits apply at the same time. So, for example, you cannot run 11 active streams on one channel even if they use different keys; nor can you run four active streams on one key even if the channel has not reached 10. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance states these caps.

YouTube also applies a limit to how many live streams a channel may create within a 24-hour period. The cited error-message guidance does not give a universal number. Plan your events in advance rather than assuming you can create an unlimited number each day.

Set up separate course streams
- Enable live streaming and check eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming tips list channel verification and no recent live-stream restrictions among the prerequisites. Enabling a channel’s first live stream can take up to 24 hours, so do this before the planned start.
- Create a distinct live event for each course. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule each course’s stream. Give each event a clear title and description so viewers can tell which course it carries.
- Assign each feed to its intended event. For each event, use the stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio to configure the encoder sending that course’s video. YouTube describes the key as the password and address for the stream; treat it as a credential and do not publish or share it. Follow the encoder setup instructions.
- Check both concurrency caps and the creation limit. Count active streams across the whole channel as well as active streams assigned to each key. Also allow for YouTube’s daily creation limit, whose universal numeric value is not stated in the cited help guidance.
- Test every event before relying on it. Confirm the right course video appears on the right event, that audio and video are present, and that each stream is visible as intended. Keep a way to monitor the feeds, particularly when courses are running concurrently.
Do not treat one shared key as a shortcut for configuring independent course feeds. Each feed needs to be directed to its intended event, and the three-stream-per-key cap still applies.

Choose an encoder that fits the operation
YouTube documents software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; neither category is required for every setup. The right choice depends on how you produce the lessons, who will monitor the streams, and whether you want a dedicated device for the job. YouTube’s documentation does not establish a universally best encoder or a model-specific performance comparison.

YouTube’s encoder guidance describes software and hardware options and references cloud-encoder workflows. That does not establish that any particular provider supports multiple independent course streams on its current plan.

Plan for the 24/7 and replay details
Around-the-clock means operational monitoring
A 24/7 plan must account for more than launching each event: decide who will notice a stopped feed, confirm that the intended video continues playing, and check each course’s event rather than assuming one working feed means all feeds are working. YouTube’s stated concurrency limits are not a promise of uninterrupted service for a particular setup.
Do not assume one complete 24-hour replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived in its encoder guide. That statement does not guarantee that one uninterrupted 24/7 stream will be archived as a single complete replay. If students need recordings, plan replay access separately and verify the archive outcome for your stream.

Check rights and monetization separately
Use only course video, music, and other material you have the rights to stream. YouTube’s encoder guide says channels in the YouTube Partner Program can monetize live streams, but that alone does not establish that a particular channel or course is eligible. Check the channel’s current eligibility and applicable content and rights rules before making revenue plans.
Common problems and what to check
- A stream will not start: Check that live streaming is enabled, the channel meets the stated prerequisites, and the event’s stream URL and key are entered correctly in the encoder. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- You cannot start another feed: Count active streams at both levels: the channel-wide maximum of 10 and the per-key maximum of three. Check whether an existing event is still active.
- You cannot create another event: YouTube applies a channel-wide daily creation limit. The cited error guidance does not specify a universal count; wait or consult the account’s Studio guidance if the limit is reached.
- The wrong course appears on an event: Check the event-to-encoder assignment and the stream key used for that feed. Keep a written mapping of course, event, and encoder to reduce mix-ups.
- A 24/7 replay is incomplete or unavailable: Do not infer a complete archive from YouTube’s guidance for streams under 12 hours. Arrange separate recording or replay access if students need the full course.
