The show will repeat until someone presses Esc. If the slides should also advance on their own, set slide timings separately; looping does not choose how long each slide stays on screen.
Set the presentation to repeat

Open the presentation in a supported desktop edition of PowerPoint.

Select Slide Show > Set Up Slide Show.

Under Show type, choose Browsed at a kiosk (full screen). Microsoft says kiosk mode loops the show until the viewer presses Esc. It also selects the continuous-loop behavior automatically. See Microsoft’s instructions for creating a self-running presentation.

Start the show from the beginning and check that the final slide returns to the first. Press Esc to exit.

Microsoft lists PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 and desktop editions 2024, 2021, 2019, and 2016 among the editions covered by its instructions, including Mac variants where indicated. Menu wording can vary by edition.
Make slides advance automatically
A repeating show and automatic advancement are separate settings. If slides should move on without a presenter, choose one of these timing methods in the desktop app:

Once timings are set, run the presentation from the beginning and verify both that slides advance as intended and that the deck returns to its first slide after the last one.

PowerPoint for the web does not support slideshow looping. Open the file in a supported desktop edition and set kiosk mode there. Microsoft documents the web limitation in its guide to presenting a slide show.

Optional: open the file directly as a slideshow
If you want the file to open in slideshow mode when double-clicked, save a copy in a supported desktop edition as a PowerPoint Show (.ppsx). This controls how the file opens; it is not the loop setting, so configure kiosk mode separately. Saving as .ppsx is not available in PowerPoint for the web.
