To loop a prerecorded bhajan as a YouTube Live broadcast, add the video to OBS as a Media Source, enable its loop option, and send OBS’s output to a YouTube Live event using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. For 4K at 60 fps, YouTube recommends 35 Mbps with AV1 or H.265/HEVC, or 50 Mbps with H.264; use constant bitrate (CBR) and a 2-second keyframe interval. Test the connection, picture, sound and loop before going public.
What you need before you start
- A local video file containing the bhajan and visual you have permission to stream.
- OBS installed on a computer capable of decoding the source and encoding 3840 × 2160 video at 60 fps.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled, plus access to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- A reliable upload connection with enough sustained capacity for your chosen codec and bitrate. YouTube recommends running a speed test and choosing settings the connection can maintain.
First-time live streaming access may take up to 24 hours to activate, so enable it before the planned broadcast. Looping the file in OBS repeats the source in the outgoing live feed; repeating playback in a YouTube viewer does not create a live broadcast.

Set up the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream.
- Open the stream settings and copy the stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your event. Reset it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
- Choose the stream’s privacy setting—public, private or unlisted—and review whether you want YouTube to archive the broadcast. YouTube allows stream settings to be reused, so check the settings on the event you are actually about to run.
Add and loop the bhajan in OBS
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene you intend to stream, then select the local video file. The exact control wording and placement can vary by OBS version.
- Open that Media Source’s properties and enable its looping behavior. Confirm the source restarts at the end of the file rather than stopping. Preview the transition at the loop point; a black frame, abrupt cut or silence may be part of the file rather than a YouTube problem.
- Arrange the scene so the source fills the output canvas without unintended cropping or borders. Check that its audio is present in the OBS audio mixer and is not muted.
- In OBS’s stream configuration, select the YouTube service or configure the server and key using the details copied from Live Control Room. Keep the key private and avoid placing it in screenshots or recordings.
OBS’s exact Media Source loop label is not confirmed here for every installed version. Check the properties for the selected source in your own version, then verify the loop in preview before connecting.

Choose 4K/60 encoder settings
YouTube’s published recommendations distinguish the bitrate by ingest codec. These are recommended and minimum upload bitrates for 4K/2160p at 60 fps; choose a setting your encoder supports and your connection can sustain.

These are YouTube Help’s current encoder-setting figures, accessed in 2026. Do not assume AV1 or H.265 is automatically the right choice: your OBS encoder, computer and network must all support a stable stream in the selected format. A lower recommended bitrate does not by itself establish that a codec is better for your setup.
- Resolution and frame rate: Set the output to 3840 × 2160 at 60 fps only if the source, computer and connection can sustain it. A 4K file does not guarantee a stable 4K live stream.
- Rate control: Use CBR (constant bitrate), as YouTube recommends for encoder ingest.
- Keyframes: Set a 2-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Protocol: YouTube recommends RTMPS. Match the protocol and stream URL provided by YouTube’s event settings.
- Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3 for stereo audio and recommends 128 Kbps; its listed stereo sample rate is 44.1 kHz. Listen to the preview to catch clipping, silence or an unintended audio track.
- SDR color: YouTube’s advanced settings specify Rec. 709 and 8-bit for SDR.
- Latency: YouTube’s 4K/2160 live mode uses normal latency; the improve-for-low-latency option is unavailable at that resolution.
YouTube automatically transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for different devices and network conditions. That does not remove the need to send a stable source feed at the settings you selected.

Test before making the stream public
- Run a speed test on the same internet connection and, where possible, the same computer and network path you will use for the broadcast.
- Start OBS and check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages before announcing or making the event public.
- Test representative motion and sound. For a bhajan loop, listen through the ending and restart, and look for missing frames, a black flash or an audio gap at the loop point.
- Monitor stream health during the broadcast. If YouTube reports unstable ingest, lower the output bitrate or choose a less demanding resolution/frame rate, then test again before relying on the stream.
YouTube’s encoder guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”

Rights may apply separately to the composition, lyrics or translation, arrangement, and the particular recording or video. Obtain permission for the actual recording and intended livestream, including any archive, platform use and relevant territories.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including other broadcasts. If it detects such content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop. If the content remains, the broadcast can be temporarily interrupted or terminated. YouTube also says that licensed third-party content can still be interrupted when the channel has not been added to the rights owner’s allowlist. Ask the relevant owner about allowlisting rather than assuming a license alone prevents a live interruption.
Common problems and fixes
